So this has actually been finished for a while now, I just finally remembered to submit it here on FA.
Needless to say, things have been very busy for me, but I am happy I finally remembered to put this up here for everyone to see. I think it came out so well.
This was a mixed media piece, I colored in the characters using CLIP STUDIO Paint, and honestly, the results are incredible, it really gives it the look and feel of traditional medium so well, even when putting it right on top of actual traditional watercolor pictures. I am so massively impressed with this program, it was worth every single penny. Can't recommend it enough!!!
To give some info on the picture itself
The picture is about my DnD character Bai Bao, a Cleric from the far east, who finds a boy lost in the woods as it begins to rain. The big bear has a soft spot for children and naturally will care for them. Having been a father himself (but that's a story for another time) He knows how to soothe a frightened and upset boy, Gently he pulls his big cape over the boy to shield him from the rain, leaning over with a smile "Now now, no need to cry, sweetie. Tell me what's wrong?" He says with a kind and caring tone, his voice was deep and comforting, as a protective and loving Papa Bear always does. The boy rubs his eyes from his tears, and the rain on his face, he was slightly damp and a bit cold. "I-" He sniffs and rubs his nose "I-i don know where ah am... ah was walking in *sniff* da woods cus I *hick* was playin', an-and I went too far down da road *sniff* and-and I don' member how ta get home, an it's rainnin' now *sniff* an- ahm cold *sniff* an scared." The boy starts to cry again. Bai smiles "Shhhh shhhh, it's okay, don't worry, calm down. It's all going to be okay. I'll help you find your home honey. You couldn't have gotten too far. Come with me, sweetie. Hold tight to my belt and I'll keep you out of the rain okay?" He was calm and reassuring, like any good father would be. The boy calmed down fairly quick, no longer sobbing, but more just worried. Still, he did as the panda said and grabbed his belt and stuck close to the bear. The small boy could feel the warmth radiating from his new protector, like a warm and roaring fire. "Come on, hold tight so you don't get lost, tell me about your village, what it looks like, and how long you have been out here." As they walked along, the boy began to tell him how long he was gone, since this morning he was in the woods, and then found the road, but he knew that the village was connected to the road, just not which way or how far. Bai smiled and nodded as they walked. "I see, well considering the direction I came from didn't have a village, I think I know which way to go from here. Now, why don't you tell me more about your home, your village, do you have a family?" He continued speaking in his comforting tone. The boy began to talk about it all, what it looked like, some of the people, his mom and dad, and siblings. He began to quickly change his attitude to that of a bright and beaming child as he regaled the big bear with tails of his games and activities. As the rain fell down gently on the bear it just seemed to bounce off of him like nothing, he would nod and respond every now and then to the boys talking "Oh? Is that so?" and "I see, how interesting. Tell me more." to keep the little one talking. And now it had seemed the boy forgot that he was ever even scared in the first place.
Just a scene I pictured in my head to build up his personality. I hope you all like it.
