“ Denkyuia e was settled at some point before the Age of Strife, and brought into the Imperium during the Great Crusade. Rapid Imperial efforts saw it advance from a Feudal to a Civilized word during that period, verging on becoming a Hive World. The Hersey itself was a catastrophe for the planet; the formation of the nearby Mosgansk Warp Rift destabilized the orbits of its twin moons, and ‘crystallized’ war energy, or ‘warpstone’, rained down on the world. Its inhabitants became mutants, with rodent-like features, and central governance collapsed, the increasingly desolate planet falling into internal war as the last ‘lords’ of the Imperial era fled in what few spacecraft they possessed.
The ‘Witch-Empress’ Szatchanx, leader of the Karastian clan-tribe, in desperation, began meddling with ancient Old One artifacts unearthed from ruins exposed during the earthquakes triggered by the frantic motions of the twin moons. Her actions triggered ‘Warp quakes’, attracting Phal Thon’s attention.
Phal traveled to Denkyuia, and, after examining the situation, gave an ultimatum: surrender the relics or be annihilated. Szatchanx made a counter-offer: save herself and her followers, and they would all be his. Amused and impressed by her defiance, he agreed, and ordered the Karastians evacuated from the planet, via the Webway. The last of them departed just as the moons collided and global meteor swarm showers began, followed the curses of the rest of the population. Further study of the relics, with the assistance of Kuzhin’s Eldar, led to the realization that they were mostly Webway access tools, and, with that functioning deciphered, most were retained by Szatchanx and her ‘Karastian’ followers. Unleashed into the Webway, they began raiding other worlds, bringing back anything of value to their own new homes.
The Karastians developed a significant resistance to both radiation and Warp exposure from living for generations on the edge of a Warp Rift and warpstone exposure, and their primary weapons, converted from scavenged Imperial equipment or build based on it, incorporate on one or both: rad weapons, warpbeam guns, and hellish ‘flence rays’.
Karastian ‘combat’ forces are normally a mix of three general types of personnel: Sneak-Killers, Alchemicals, and Scavengers. Scavengers are actually the most important of the three; they rely on constant influxes of almost all materials from their efforts. The primary objective of their far-flung operations is thus resource acquisition, and, normally, they avoid direct combat, staying mostly to raiding and stealing. When fighting is unavoidable, the Alchemicals are their core force. These troops utilize warpstone based drug infusions to temporarily boost their speed, strength, durability, and regenerative capacity to superhuman levels. While one ‘dose’ normally lasts for hours, the relatively time consuming process of setting up the infusion gear means that must Alchemicals wear it almost at all times in potential combat zones. The duration of effects means that the damaging or destruction of the infusion systems once combat begins is not a primary concern, which is beneficial due to the generally unprotected nature of that gear. Once the infusion wears off, the recovering Alchemicals require massive amounts of food and days of rest. The last of the three main groups, the Sneak-Killers, also use warpstone drugs, combined with meditative focus, to allow them to accomplish feats including vanishing from others’ perception and limited phase shifting. Scouts, assassins, and sabatures, in ideal situations they neutralize enemy threats before their presence is even known.”

Holy Freaking Hell Woman!!! Could you get any more impressive?!?!?! Great quality on the background composition. Great detailing on their equipment, especially the details on the frag grenades on the girl in the foreground. And of course, the sexy ladies themselves. You always impress.
I love the design of this species - they are so sleek yet powerful looking. I'm generally not a fan of rat based characters but these are a big exception. The muted tones work excellently in creating a sense of a ruined world. The rags that they are adorned in are really well done with great light/shadow. I also really like their wild hair flowing in the breeze. Beautiful work!
