Kea Reference Sheet (Sketchathon Q&A!)
Kearra "Kea" Brenner is a formerly human 35 year old researcher studying ancient relics in a lab in the Sinnoh region.
Her life took a dramatic turn at age 24 as a junior researcher at her lab while deciphering the markings on a particularly enigmatic relic that appeared to be an onyx collar with an everstone mounted in it. The collar stubbornly defied all tests to determine its construction, deflecting all physical tools and energy scans alike. All that could be determined is that radiates a subtle, but apparently harmless energy of unknown composition. Glyphs on the interior of the collar were difficult to translate, but apparently promised the wearer would be able to understand pokemon. After the collar spent a year frustrating the senior researchers at her Lab, it found its way to Kearra's desk and quickly became the focus of her attention. After a month of failed attempts to analyse the device, she succumbed to an urge of desperate frustration and placed the collar around her own neck. With a snap, the collar locked closed, the seams vanishing entirely. Kearra had little time to ponder potential regret before the everstone began to glow, causing her body to tingle with energy. Blinding light erupted from the stone and over a few seconds her body felt like it was losing cohesion entirely, overwhelming all her senses. The disorientation didn't last long, however. The blinding light receded as quickly as it started, but the changes it left in its wake remained. Kearra's body had been permanently altered into that of a Braixen, with all the magical powers (and physical limitations) that came with it.
Kearra spent the first few months of her transformation locked in the lab as her colleagues attempted everything they could think of to either remove the collar or reverse the transformation, with no success. The collar was as stubborn as ever, resisting any attempt to remove or destroy it, and still refusing to give up any of its secrets through scans. In time, it became clear that the only way to remove the collar was to remove Kearra's head. And while Kearra was originally distraught with her fate, over the 11 years she has spent in her new body, she has learned not only to cope with her new life, but accept her new outlook and thrive. She continues to live a fully human life with the understanding of those close to her. She keeps her own apartment, works, shops and keeps up a social life. While she still understands human language, she cannot speak it herself, and instead relies on her phone's text to speech for everyday communication. A combination of step stools, reaching sticks and a little braixen magic gives her access to her surroundings despite her short stature. And a social network of close, understanding friends keeps her happy and healthy. She continues to work at the lab where she had her life changing encounter, and while she originally focused exclusively on studying her collar, years of no progress and a growing appreciation of her new body have caused her interests to drift to other projects. In fact, despite the constant reminder around her neck, she rarely even gives a thought to the limitations of her condition anymore.
Kearra is fiercely intelligent and relentlessly curious. And while she is very outgoing and excitable in familiar company, she tends to be quite shy around strangers. She enjoys all manner of puzzles and strategy games, science fiction shows and movies, and bad jokes. She normally very thoughtful with her actions, but can sometimes make rash decisions in the heat of the moment if she is too excited or frustrated to think clearly. She loves sweet foods.
I'm really inspired with this character right now. So I'm hoping I can get some Q&A questions for sketches that show off her personality or history. So if you have any questions about how Kea deals with day to day challenges, or want to know anything about her history, personality, or ask about how specific aspects of her life are different now, please go ahead! I'm going to try to sketch a response to EVERY question asked!

Man she's like almost the exact opposite of my Braixen character in almost every conceivable way, right down to the "ending" both of them get after the transformation. Where one gets to change back and the other is stuck.
I guess dating is the last thing in her mind after living as a Braixen for 11 years, so I wonder if she's okay with dating humans and Pokemon or is she sticking strictly to Pokemon because any attempt with the former ended badly or didn't cross her mind?

With Kea only being 3' tall, does she have a problem a) getting everyone to make eye contact with her instead of looking over her head or down her cleavage? b) being basically eye level with everyone's crotch or chest if they're shorter, does she have a problem looking up at everyone?
Also, has she ever been picked up so someone could talk to her?

Got turned into a 'Mon too? Been there... did you have any issues learning your new powers as well? It's not like you had the lifetime of control that other Pokemon had since hatching have had! It's a whole new reflex and control you have to learn, not only to use but restrain so nothing... slips. Have any tool to help with that or have someone coach you? Liiiike a trainer perhaps?
Won't pursue this line of questioning anymore after this: but were there any of your coworkers or people of your previous life that had a crush on you or that you had a crush on before you changed? Were there any (from you and others) after you changed? You already stated that you don't pursue relationships until after you get over your personal issues first, but in your decade as Pokemon were there any crushes that almost made you want to resolve it?
3 different questions:
Pokemon with boobs: That's normal in your world or is it just a rare thing?
About moves: Were you able to discover the truth about the 4 move limit or was that a secret lie that Pokemon made?
HMs and TMs: Do you understand how it works and feel like for Pokemon when they were used on them and if you didn't use them were they able to tell what it feels like?
