Sunday Singalong 13 LOVEmber: I Don't Want To Set The ...
... World On Fire ft.
rambrissot (...darn title length limitations!)
Well, I'm finally back - not with the expected Lenny Kravits song though.
This great song, conceived and performed by The Ink Spots back in the late 30s, actually made it into the top 5 of the US pop charts.
I, however, not even though of being conceived at that time, learned about this song, like many others, I guess, by the game Fallout 3. And I loved it so much, that I just could not not cover it in my LOVEmber special.
And since it seemed easy to sing for me, especially compared to the other LOVEmber songs (and it actually was rather easy) and I'm a bit stressed out at the moment, I chose to do it first.
But boooooooi was this a bitch to mix! I cannot even tell ya!
But it's finally done.
And as you've read this far, I'm also very proud to accounce that
rambrissot has graced me by agreeing to do a cameo in this song - You can hear him in the middle voiceover part.
Biiiig thanks to you, Ram, my buddy!!!
Jupp. To wrap it up, you can expect another song from me in the evening.
And in the spirit of the song - grab you loved one and squeeze them good and feel free to dance cheek to cheek with them.
I hope yall enjoy this song and as always: Thanks for listening.

I shall be listening to this later, but your choice of the song gave me a good chuckle... The Ink Spots played in our little town of Corry back in the 1960's. I was in high school at the time. I had no idea who they were, nor did I get to see them perform, but being we had a population of only 8,000, I'm guessing they were an easy gig for their ages.

Reminds me of my first festival. I was basically there for one act.
And my smile was very VERY wide when I've heard of the mass of good band there.
Well the Ink Spots had Hits in 40s (and/or later),, even one or to on #1, so I guess they must have been somewhat successful. Probably well known - just noch to your age group.

Oh this is delightful. You guys did such a good job.
Suggestion! Do some traditional Christmas songs just like this!
Post note: The Ink Spot name comes from a time before civil rights and is a reference to the blackness of the group. Times were so very different back then. Much of it was not meant in hatred - it just was the way it was. Polish jokes, as a for instance, were in absolute abundance.

Thank you very much! <3
Christmas songs in a jazzy barbershop quartet style... or something like that. Sounds like a neat idea!
regarding your post note. That actually crossed my mind.
I'm only hearing that in stories. But yeah, society underwent many major transformations that shaped the world as we have it today. I believe that the majority was not mean spirited. Many people got hurt though, i think - in different ways.

oh yes... I am sure many got hurt. We had one TV with one channel in black and white, and I remember wondering why people were burning their own neighborhoods... I was a child and clueless.
example of things said - and I will always remember this - my grandfather liked watching the Lawrence Welk Show. At that time, Lawrence did a lot of WWI songs, accordion music, ballroom dancing, and soft shoe. The soft shoe dancer was always black, and my grandfather would always mutter, 'Those darkies sure can dance.'
There was nothing mean even meant in that statement, he was just paying a compliment.

Smashed it, I quit! I can't believe I was retired by a cover, but the results are in and this level of sound magic is beyond me.
rambrissot here is ingenius, he may be the only fur that could pull off this cameo that well.

Haha :3
Thanks a lot for the praise! <3
That mixing was quite an endeavour for these small scaled projects, but a big learning experience too.
Yea, Ram did is just delightfully! I'm really happy with the results. :D
(If you are curious what it'd sound like without the vinyl-ification, there is a clean version in my Scraps.)

There is a certain sound quality you get only from an original 78 record played on an original Electrola machine, that just makes the music come alive. :3 I think you did a good job recreating that!

I was just going for the sound I've heard from a digitized version this very song. As you can tell I'm all but an expert on this.
But you seem to have some expertise on this, so thanks for sharing it and for your evaluation. Very much appreciated!
And that Victor machine sounds damn sweet <3 I could listen to it for hours.
