This was a commission I got some time ago by Kory Bing, the artist and writer of one of my favorite webcomics, Skin Deep.

This is Elise Foucharde, a bugbear OC of mine, originally from France. After working with a ragtag bunch to stop a Nazi officer from using enchanted clay golems in WW2, she decided to leave war-torn Europe for America with her best friend Karl Richter, himself an undead draugr. As Karl had a significant amount of money from his family, they settled into a luxurious apartment on 5th Ave in New York City. She was with child at the time from a one night stand on VE Day. Karl was undead, and couldn't actually get physically tired, so he was perfect to look after a baby bugbear. With this assistance, Elise was able to go to New York's prestigious Institute of Culinary Education. In 1950, she opened a gourmet restaurant in the underground Avalon in the NYC subway.
On this day, some poor fool made the mistake of criticizing the culinary skill of a bugbear (one that has actually seen war). Best not to arouse the ire of a creature designed to freak out others.
Translation: "Who is the dead man who said the beef bourguignon wasn't cooked enough?"
