I try to be, but they don't need to know me in order to hate me. Based on appearance alone, they assume people's gender identity, sexuality, behavior and anything else they might need to fit their own delusional narrative.

Hating someone you've never really met properly is stupid. It's a human trait to admit when you misjudge a person but they just never admit when they do. as you said, delusional narrative.
Sometimes I wonder if people get hated on purely because they appear around, say, FA a lot. Or draw a lot, or buy a lot of art. Seems that way, and it's bullshit as a reason to hate a person.
I know you don't properly know me right now, but for what it's worth, I don't judge you for anything, I see you as a level-headed, intelligent and rational person. I watch you because I like your world-view and morals. Not just because of your art or comics. And I respect letting you do "you"

I've seen like 2-3 other posts kind of like this and feel a bit out the loop, is this mostly twitter drama stuff? I've never made an account there or on Facebook which I feel very validated by my decision not to.

In my case, it's very localized real life stuff, so it's probably society as a whole randomly making everyone miserable.

A week or so ago, I had some lunatic (deliberately) misinterpret a comment I made two-and-a-half years ago and attack me for it. They took an offhand comment about a deceased artist's style and turned it into a personal affront to themselves.

Last I knew, the United States I live in still has a Constitution with an Amendment guaranteeing me the right to freedom of speech. Their rights end where they interfere with mine.

Heh, yeah, some people just desperately need conflict as the only way to feel better about themselves. I had someone on Twitter accuse the latest story of my comic, which very clearly is entirely a metaphor on the horrible consequences of sexual abuse, of being apologism of sexual abuse. I feel sorry for those people, going out of their way to always stay angry and hate everything, no matter what. It must be a very miserable life.

So true! In my Abuser Profile, I refer to them as "Conflict-craving adrenaline junkies, SJWs and trolls."

Society is weird. A collection of agreements and unspoken contracts. I'm pretty sure the Ancient Athenians thought themselves normal but today's society would find quite a bit reprehensible about their concept of "normalcy". "Average", "Baseline", these are valid terms but "normal?" is a bit too subjective to be used, nominal makes more sense.

It's why I hope to see the future where we alter the mind and the body to suit who we wish to be, it will be hilarious to see people scream online on how "abnormal" it is to have a cybernetic shark fin on your head vs useful tentacles on your back... normal is weird!

I do not forgive my high school Philosophy teacher for bullying me in class because I said that normalcy is subjective.

I think in being human there are many layers to us and people just don't want to accept them all for reasons societal and personal. We'll get there, or we'll continue to be the same silly monkeys only with better toys, I am going to put some money on the former! Until then, we have cute things, and robotics <3.

Society is also, in my opinion, full of contradictions. We place heavy emphasis on "being yourself" and going against the grain...but are just as quick to set on people for doing so when it isn't one of the "pre approved" ways.
We talk about how we shouldn't try to be part of the in-crowd and yet also have an intense, instinctual desire to be part of a group.
