A Gift for Evie (Story in desc.)
‐
The air was crisp, if a bit chill. The night, quiet and empty. The sky above a forest's canopy was clear, stars sparkling in the air, the moon baring down it's pearlescent light upon the lush greenery.
The air, still. Not a breeze blew through. A set of eyes pierced through the darkness as a Grovyle trudged towards the forest's center, a gentle smile on his face. Within his grasp he held something.
Simply put, a gift.
His name was Aero, a stout, strangely featured gecko with a kind and prideful heart. With a right arm made of vines stranding up to the shoulderblade, it curled into a long arm and three fingers near the end. The leaf upon his head faded into an icy white, from the top of his head to the tip. Lastly his rear sported an unusual addition, a tail much like a Sceptile, whilst lacking in leaves around his behind.
The gecko's kind eyes always shared his gentle smile; a tender smirk. Wrapped around his fingertips behind his back was the gift he had, standing before his sister he held dear. He'd crouch down before her, staring down to the resting gecko with a smile.
"Evie, it's your big brother, Aero!" His tone held a chipper spark to it, his voice in a whisper, being quiet as the breeze. "Happy birthday."
"Do you know what I got ya? Huh? I know you love them. I know it's the same thing as last year but you know how hard it is to make these." Withdrawing his hand from behind, he revealed an elegant flower; a blue rose, glimmering in the moonlight.
"It's priceless, unique, and gorgeous, just like you!" His hands curled around it, the beautiful blue marvel sporting thorns as sharp as Aero's vision.
Raising his arm into the air, he held it up to the moon. The light refracting off of the freshly picked plant, Aero lowered it to her and set it down amongts several others that laid on her.
With a sigh, he would reach down behind his back and adjust a fallen log, lining it up with his behind before prominently planting his plant posterior upon it. Eyes locked on their resting sibling, Aero smiled widely, showing off those pearly whites of his.
"I miss you all the time Eveline. But as of late, I found someone who reminds me of you. They're a bit more brash than you ever were, but they have a spark in their eyes much like yourself."
"Rather cute shao, he was outcast by his own family, labeled as a 'bad omen.'" Leaning forward, he let loose a soft sigh with a breeze rolling through. It was in sync with his breath, almost on cue.
He stared to the dirt, still holding his lighthearted smile. "I see no bad omen on that Pokemon. Just someone who has the drive to prove they're everything but."
"Strong enough will to trample a Bouffalant in will, but lacking in the power to back it up."
His voice dropped, a low whisper coming from his mouth. "Every time I speak to you during your sleep, I wonder if you can actually hear me. If you even know I'm here."
A long pause, the gecko staring over his beloved sibling, before he prominently got to his feet and stepped close. He crouched down, sinking his vined arm into the soil where his sister lay, before planting the latest blue rose beside the others.
Rising, he stood over his sister's grave with a small smile, and a tear dropping to the bushel of blue beauties lining the soft mound. His voice a bit more somber than normal, Aero waves to the giant tree and his sister below it, exclaiming to the gravesite.
"I'll see you next year. Love you!" He left, the wind whipping through the forest as Aero's feet were carried by the breeze.
