Sorry I never got around to answering this:
It is my belief that the anime does not accurately represent how pokemon are intended to sound, and thus do not just chatter their names over and over. Rather, I think the game that makes the most believable pokemon cries is Pokken Tournament, where pokemon sound like they're saying things halfway between a human word and an animal grunt. "BREEE" is just what I think the in game braixen cry sounds like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvSduk2EcHs Which I imagine is what they shriek when they're most excited/angry
