A photograph of a cast of a lion-headed human figure found in a cave in Germany. Since European cave lion males didn't sport a mane, it's impossible to tell if this was intended to be a lion-man or lion-woman. The original was carved from mammoth ivory by flint tools and dates back about 32,000 years (older than the famous cave paintinsg in France) making it one of the oldest known pieces of artwork.

Sorry, I just get a little >:C when people try to say stuff like "durr durr Egyptians were the original furriez!". For the record, Egyptians didn't actually think their gods had animal heads. Just sayin'.
Also I thought that statuette there was a camel at first. Must be the nose that gets me.
