Considering they did make these, absolutely shoulda done it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W31
Incidentally, Rommel's actual staff car was a Skoda Superb Kfz. 21, of which only 100 were made.

I wouldn't say 'overkill'. I mean, it fits Jingur's personality entirely, to have over-the-top emphasis. She's about the only one I know whose idea of 'subtle' is even more blatant than the Jagers (Girl Genius).
This is, after all, the lady who filked 'I'm the Bad Guy'. I love her flair for the dramatic, it's what makes her stand out as a webcomic villain.

Jinjur is an excellent example of a well-made 'Disney villain' style irredeemably evil force whom must be overcome. She's not an overly complex character, her motivations are very straightforward and understandable, just as they are deplorable. She isn't redeemable for the simple fact that she doesn't *want* to be redeemed. The only reason she would accept an offer of redemption is to backstab the sucker later on down the line when she gets back into a more advantageous position.
What separates her from the army of cardboard-cutout template-stamped villains that have been used over the decades, however, is that she's got *personality* and *competence*. Yes, her motives are simple, she wants power. Specifically, she wants the throne because she has effectively seen it as already hers for decades now, whenever Songween eventually kicks the bucket. She's made her only obvious rival into her lackey, consolidated power, and pretty much considers this an already done deal, until our main protagonist enters the picture. And she's got *style*. She's pretty much the poster child for 'villain you love to hate'. The problem with most villains is that they're *boring*. Sure, they're out to go rule/destroy the world. Jingur, however, has that chutzpah, that charisma, that so many villains are missing. And you have Lt. Kruger in the position of 'damsel in distress' to shed light on just how bent Jingur really is. When you get a look into the 'true self' of a sympathetic villain, you see a wounded soul in need of healing. When you get a look into Jinjur's true self, however... you see a calculating megalomaniac who needs to be put down like a mad dog.
What makes her somewhat terrifying as a villain is that she's not dumb, she understands that her actions are likely to spark a world war (although she probably feels it's a bit less likely than some). It is that, after weighing her options, it is a cost she is willing to pay to consolidate her power, and has likely even taken it into consideration for her larger plans. After all, war is good for business when you are a mercenary. I get the impression she feels that if a world war *does* spark off, her country will be the last one on the 'hit list' so to speak, and generally seen as not worth the effort of trying to invade, meaning she can bide her time while the 'superpowers' duke it out, and (as a Hyena would) walk in to claim the kills. She's willing to have a kill count of billions across the world if it means she gets to place a crown on her head. The scary part isn't that she hasn't considered it... the scary part is that she *has* considered it.
She is unashamedly and unabashedly evil, and not only admits it, but *revels* in it. She's not doing it 'because I must' or 'for the greater good' or even 'because if I don't, someone else will' or any other petty excuse that you see in more sympathetic villains. She's doing it because it will consolidate power to last her the rest of her life, and because she *wants* to. She's not just some emo villain, a poor tortured soul who is only going through with the motions because she sees no other option... she's doing it because in addition to giving her a solid power base on the global scale, it's *fun*!
And that is one reason why I love this webcomic so much. Not only are the protagonists well fleshed out characters with their own issues, you've got a Grade A villain in the mix who has gotten her time to show who she really is as well. I haven't been rooting for someone's ass to get kicked like this since... hmm... probably Final Fantasy 3 (VI for you kids who never owned an SNES) and Kefka.

Love the cameo with Doc Nickel. I read his comic over at the Whiteboard. I believe Frederic may have cameoed in his comic before. If I remember correctly, the last time he showed up, he had *Quote* "Assassinated" *End quote* Freddy? I was curious if the two of you happen to be friends? :3
Doc first gave Lotus Blossom the panda a cameo in his strip. I had Lotus Blossom's aunt Kuchiku order a "hit" on Arfur Grrsn, Jr., after he "dumped" Lotus, and Doc Nickel showed up to plug Arf Grrsn Senior (not junior) with paintballs. Over the years I've put Doc into the background, most recently as a bookseller in Kiyanti selling books and used trebuchets.
I wanted to have a scene in a bar with Doc and Roger in Hawaiian shirts, straw hats, dark glasses, and palm-frond fans in a dark corner booth, clearly waiting for some shifty deal to take place, but I didn't get around to doing that in Port Asbestos. Having Doc Nickel as a "notorious international arms dealer" and as such, a celebrity, just makes sense...
In one of Fred's flashbacks he mentions learning wilderness survival skills from a polar bear in Alaska. The skill in question was how to order pizza.
And I did a filler series for him where the Hyena Brigade orders "painball guns" in exchange for a thousand (live) guineas.
Doc's put some of my characters into his strips as cameos, as well. Most recently he had Jinjur, Vyschuss, and Mama Fisi losing a round of the paintball tournament. He draws my characters better than I do. :)
While I've never met Doc in person--there's a continent in the way--I've chatted with him on the phone and I do like to consider him a friend.

Everybody else here geeking out over the Imperial March, and I'm just tickled pink at Doc's cameo. XD He probably would end up in that role in this universe! Heck, might even be making deals to mass produce his ultra-caffeinated Mountain Dew for the Brigade. =P Provided they can keep the guyenas from having heart attacks and running off like Speedy Gonzales in the trial runs...
