Continuing the Emma And Ash sketchbook.
Skipping some story stuff - E#Emma and Ash get into fight with bad guys but all flee to airship as earthquake starts and the underworld starts caving in.
Yes. Disney's "Atlantis" ending. i wrote this story many years before "Atlantis" and i'm not going to change it because some other writer came up with the same idea five or more years later. My idea first, as well as the lightning storm in the volcanic eruption clouds. My idea first, and i do it better.
Emma and Ash and Dellins expedition reach the airship just as it is taking off - the pilot having decided to get the hell out. All grab for anchor ropes and scramble up for the balloon ropes - fights ensue - a lava bomb ignites the balloon - Ash leaps to a nearby cliff and yell to Emma to jump and he will catch her.
But Emma is terrified of heights.
Many years ago before Emma and Ash had first become lovers they were skinny-dipping in a pond - Ash had told her to climb out on the old tree and jump into the pond - Emma did so - but closed her eyes when she jumped. - Emma, now, is too terrified to jump. So she brings herself back into that memory, - and jumps - with her eyes closed.
Ash sees that she is going to miss and falls down the cliff face to catch her. And he does catch her - but they are now below the roots he was clinging to, his claws cling to rock. He tells Emma to climb up to the roots and to the cliff above where he tossed a rope - and to lower it to him. Emma can't get a grip on his wet clothing - so Ash tells her to use her claws - to use her medical knowledge of where digging into him would cause the least damage and bleeding while providing the best grip.
There is a ton of story stuff in this chapter and the following chapter. Dellins dies, the colony town is mostly destroyed, the nano-tech plague is canceled, the underworld destructs, Emma and Ash have to work around the clock for days tending to all the injured. etc etc. Emma claws her way up over him to the roots and then lowers the rope to him ....
Since i wrote this story over 25 yrs ago Ash's staff and the Jump! things have become tropes/cliches. i'm going to stay with my original themes. my story came first.
