Saving the best for last, or (at least) the last for last, I've decided to post the most recent addition to my big black sketchbook - just to wrap up my "BBS" series, as this 'sweeps month' comes to an end.
It was a late Saturday afternoon in March, as the Dealer's Room of "MegaCon 2010" was about to close down, and all attendees were about to be asked to leave the Orange County Convention Center. I was running around the area, with looking for any last-minute venues I might've overlooked that day, when I came across the concession of Graham Nolan, an anthroartist from Florida who just began his own webcomic in December, 2009 entitled "Sunshine State". His strip (published three times a week) involves the lives of some anthropomorphic Florida fauna.
One of the main characters of "Sunshine State" is 'Melbourne Gator' (or 'Mel' for short), a laid-back reptile whose three greatest passions are surfing (which he's lousy at), Scrabble* (which he sometimes cheats at), and conch fritters (his favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner)!
Even though "MegaCon" was about to shut down for the night, Mr. Nolan was kind enough to whip up a quick sketch of 'Mel' in my "BBS". (I took a picture of him illustrating the alligator in my sketchbook, but I didn't have time for a 'photo-op' of the two of us, regrettably.) I'd thanked him very much for the illo, and told him that I'll be promoting his webcomic, here in "Fur Affinity"... and I will, too!
If you'd like to see 'Mel' and his Floridian friends, check out "Sunshine State" on the Internet at http://www.sunshinestatecomics.com/ - and show your support to Graham by visiting the strip as often as possible!
Meanwhile, to those of you who allowed me permission to post your sketches in May, 2010, I thank each and every one of you. And to those of you who I'd promised to post other images from my "BBS", but didn't find the time to do so this month, fear not. The next 'sweeps month' is September, and I'll have more than enough time to prepare your sketches for public display here in "Fur Affinity".
