Bio: A cheerful Siberian Husky, Captain Phil Donahue is a respected pilot for the airline "TRITON FLY" a small budget airline formed in mid 1989. Being one of the original pilots, Captain Phil Donahue flew a second hand DC-10-10 for the airline's regional services from Miami, Florida, to Los Angeles, California.
On the fourth of July, 1990, Captain Phil was flying a routine flight to Los Angeles, California, when a unexpected flameout of the number two tail engine resulted in the crew diverting to Houston, Texas for a pre-cautionary landing. Storms were in the region and the DC-10 flew through them, being buffeted violently as wind sheer and microbursts resulted in Donahue having control problems. With a sudden down draft, Donahue's DC-10 crashed into a crowded highway tail first, taking out six cars before he got airborne again, trailing fire as a fuel line was severed and ignited.
Crashing onto the runway, the DC-10 was badly damaged, but later repaired and put back into service in early 1991.
The photo of Captain Donahue was taken in 1983, when he was just 30 years old, working for another airline at the time.
