The Flyatnitovs wanted a better life for their daughter Serseii. Fleeing from a country that was starting to lean back into one of its darker eras, they boarded a plane to Canada, or so they thought, for the dyslexic smugglers operating the operation mixed it up with America. ("Well, they're both short names ending in A...") They now reside in Los Angeles in one of the smaller cave apartments. Not the best neighbourhood at night, but at least they have separate rooms... and their own toilet for once! Because their daughter appears to be getting a decent blend of survival instinct and proper education there, they have decided to stay in CA for the meantime. Plus, the brightness of L.A. ensures that any of their unwanted bat-brethren/in-laws from across the ocean are unlikely to visit.

Mr. & Mrs. Flyatnitov's opinion on Knashford Shark and his slightly-more-than-friendzone status with Serseii is taking quite the while to accept. It's a rare occasion for Ford if somebody dislikes him NOT because he's a lowly 'mindless' shark, but in that he has rich, ' trashy capitalist' parents. They fear him using Serseii's emotions as a throwaway novelty for a while, when in reality he's a lonely boy who sees her as the one kind person at school to him. Mr. Flyatnitov knows not to go so far as incur the wrath of Eurydice when interrogating Knashford at every date (see below), but there's only so much he's willing to see his daughter be taken to R-rated films...
