An environment concept I started last night and finished today. Rocks are a pain in the ass to paint realistically, let alone cliff faces. I did a brief study on them a while back though - which I think helped a lot.
I had some problems with the mountains feeling too flat, but adding a slight light source from the left helped that. Overall the lighting was interesting, another take on the dim foreground, bright background style.
Enjoy! =)

Well, being that rocks/mountains are one of the very few things I can decently paint I can tell you using a light source from one of the sides of the picture does help define their shape a lot, it does bring them to life. And cliff faces... difficult x . x
Rocks themselves I still find easier to do. Like, piling a bunch of rocks together to form a rocky wall is just... it's not that hard but it doesn't look too realistic either XD
