They are knitted with a machine. I can't STAND the feel of sublimation socks. I've never worn socks that were 'painted on' so I can't form an opinion on them.
Specific colored yarns are chosen and put on a little tube and the machine's computer knits those yarns in. The material is 70%Cotton 27%Polyester 3%Spandex

I wouldn't say they're the same as sports socks, though if I really wanted to, I could probably dive into sports socks.
These are more in the direction of standard fashion crew socks that are machine knitted with standard thickness, with rosso linking and non-terry soles.
Not so much for sports, more for showing off. I'd compare them less to Nike and more to the GOOD socks you'd find at the front of a Newbury Comics.
(again, not the sublimation ones, I really can't stand sublimation socks)
