Rai Rai was a Vega Saucer Beast feature as the Monster of the Week on Ep.31 of the Grendizer Anime: this episode marks the 2nd appearance of the Boss Borot in the show and his final appearance in the overall original anime Trilogy (Z, Great & Grendizer). Was essentially a Saucer with bird features: a large neck, big Beak with a Mohawk display on top that ran down the back of the neck, chicken legs and a plate in the back end that curve upward as its tail. It was purple, blue and pink in color. The Vehicle form was a conventional disk flying saucer, blue color at the bottom, pink color top cut by curve blue paint in the forward section and a stripe in the middle. Rai Rai could fire a pink energy beam from its mouth; missile and yellow energy beams from its portholes, as well could carry a small flotilla of personal attack craft.

Side Note 1: This guy is my most humble opinion, the worst of the designs (although I know I could be wrong as I watch the series), but this one prove to be my most hated: it is essentially a fucking Chicken on a disk with legs. Also, hope to make the Saucer Beast from Eps. 31 to 45 for one post a week, before I start doing Jeeg's Haniwa Phantoms.

Inspired by his last adventure with Koji & Grendizer, the Borot gang are working on their next project (the Borot Spazer) when Boss receives a letter from Koji, hoping for another visit, when the group is been spied upon by Vega Agents who report to the Skull Moon Base, hoping to find Heroes base, Rai Rai is immediately launch and sent to Earth. The following morning, successfully makes a successful launch of his Spazer (with his usual hiccups) and proceeds to fly to the Makiba farm to visit Koji, with the spies watching. (Interestingly, Nuke and Mucha do NOT tag along, making the opening their final appearance in the series).

On arrival (because of its Spazer) Borot is confused with a Saucer Beast (HOW?) and Dambei proceeds to sound the alarm and open fire. Borot "lands", and as the group receive their friends, the Spies report Makiba Farm as Koji hideout to Rai Rai, who flies to its coordinate, been detected by the Observatory. At the farm, Dambei apologies for the mistake, and Boss tells Koji he could operate Borot, which makes him emotional, much to Boss surprise. Hikaru comes in an tells Daisuke to head to the lab, where he is inform of the UFO and launches Grendizer.

Rai launches a small squadron of four Minifos to attack the farm where (surprisingly) Dambei shuts down one with a his Automatic Riffle...

Side note 2: I burst out laughing like a total idiot when that happen. Like How? HOW ARE THEY A SPACE SPANNING EMPIRE WHEN THEY ARE SHUTDOWN BY A METER HIGH JAPANESE COWBOY WITH AN AUTOMATIC RIFFLE? That's like a F-22 been taken out by a caveman who threw a pebble at it XD

Anyways, Borot tries takes off (with Koji and Bunta tagging along with Boss) but its attempt are halted by the remaining Minifos, who knock out the Borot and its occupants. Rai opens fire but its missiles are shutdown by Grendizer and take the fight to the enemy. Duke distracts the attack group as The Borot trio wakes up, ready to launch, Boss allows Koji to launch the Borot and succeed on time to avoid Rai's missiles, but rapidly loses control and the Mecha falls over the UFO: both crashing (Koji, Boss and Bunta been knocked out _ AGAIN). Meanwhile Duke disposes of the Minifos and flies back to assist Borot as Rai returns to open fire at the Borot, Duke again save it by destroying the missiles, debris of it hitting the robots head, waking everyone up.

Side note 3: through out the whole situation everyone gets knocked out, Bunta is constantly pushed into the Urinal Control panel on the back of the Borot's head. Koji also gets to feels what is like to be on the Borot: its piss XD

As Rai fights, it transforms into its Beast form and grabs onto the Grendizer's Spazer, opening fire with its Energy beam, not allowing Duke to break free and crashes. Borot takes flight to help and tries to drop onto Rai Rai with a Borot Kick, but the Beast evades and hits Grendizer, waking Duke up. Duke takes the chance to open fire with Space Thunder and decapitates the Beast, the body losing control and hitting Borot (which by this point, the damage begins to take toll on the Borot Spazer). Grendizer then disposes of the Monster with Double Harken, which cuts the monster in two halves, and the remains dispose with Screw Crusher Punch; one of the remains crashes onto the two Vega Spies, killing them.

After the battle, Duke thanks Boss for his help and departs, apologizing for the destruction of his Spazer, with Boss promising to see him again.

Side note 4: Sadly, as stated before, this was the last appearance of Boss and his Borot in the overall Original Anime Trilogy.
