Shoulders sagging in defeat, Ragnar looks away from the woman who stands before him. He cannot gather the strength to look upon her. Her soft pail skin. Here hair that of crimson red. Her body that was once so elegant and beautiful; now streamlined with muscles and built for the hunt and for the kill. But right now she was not hunting. She was not here for the kill. Finally ending the silence Ragnar asks his once beloved, "Can you still love a monster?"
Her eyes fixed upon the beast before her. For over fifty years she had hunted him down. For most of her life she sought nothing more than to kill this man, this beast, this murderer. And yet she could not bring herself to do it. Her tempest of torment and rage simmered down into a low burn. She wanted to cry. She wanted to shout, and scream, and tell him everything that she had felt and done all these decades past. But she didn't. She couldn't.
Walking up to the beast, she strokes his ragged mane, and brings her hand down to his rough scales. Leaning in, she kisses the beast's snout; the rough hide upon her soft cherry lips. The moment blazed into their memories as they remembered what it felt like to be 18 again. But moments do not last forever. For it to ever exist, it must also end. A story must go on; and so they separated. Looking into each others eyes paused as if trying to freeze in time, regretting that it was inevitably marching on. She finally gives him his answer, "I will always love you. I am not letting go. You have three days to run and hide. And then? Who knows..."
