TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

Sprig's right, Trask. You may never prove to Hemlock that you can be trusted but you can prove to everyone else that you can. I have a similar situation in my story "Michael and Amanda". Amanda's mother hates Michael simply because he's human and what humans used to do to her feral ancestors (foxes) and for no other reason.
I can sense Rask's frustration, he's trying his best to fit in and prove he's not a threat. However, Sprig does bring a balanced point that Hemlock wants to protect everyone too, also how he is encouraging Rask not just to only dwell on Hemlock. I like how you've got their conversation in the tree and how in panel 3, there is a brightening of the shafts of light when Sprig indicates that his viewpoint of Rask is slowly changing. I like how there is a natural feel of time with this conversation and how it is progressing, compared to that of a fast-paced adventure story. There are more thought-provoking and emotional depths that this comic explores, that makes this a masterpiece.
