Introducing the Deadly Nightshade and Starfall!
The Deadly Nightshade (Adam Page):
(History)
Born into a wealthy family, few would guess the attractive yet spoiled Adam Page was actually a crusader for justice.
Page is the son of William Page, aka “The Detective.” A once well known criminal investigator who battled the rampant corruption of Arc City’s inscrutable mayor. While the Detective has moved on from his crime fighting days to mentor up and coming heroes his son has proved more than willing to take his father’s place.
As the scion of one of the wealthiest families on the planet, Page has been afforded training from numerous martial artists, gymnastics, athletes, engineers, scholars, and even learned his investigative skills from The Detective himself.
On top of this, his ex-super villain mother, “Vixin” has also taught Page how to hide his boyish charms and masquerade as a dark and brooding vigliante that will strike terror into the hearts of your average criminal.
However, Page has learned to take a different approach than his father. Focusing less on meinal crimes, Page instead uses his skills as a detective and the intimidation tactics he learned from his mother to dig up evidence and publicise the crimes of the numerous corrupt institutions that have burrowed their way into the core of Arc City. Page firmly believes that if the Mayor is to truly be defeated it must be because the citizens finally see him for the criminal that he is.
Proving himself more than capable than most would assume during his time mentoring under the UPO, Page is surprisingly good at being a hero despite the fact that he’s really only doing it on a whim.
Because of the Mayor’s stranglehold on the city most of Nightshade’s Rogue's Gallery consists of mentally-deranged villains that always “somehow” seem to escape, corrupt cops, organized crime-lords, and just about every figure of authority within the city.
(Personality)
Adam Page is a very different person than the hero he pretends to be.
Page is smart, kind, and almost childishly optimistic. Despite his father’s public persona as a philandering rich dirt bag and his mothers time as a supervillain, both proved to be exceptionally good parents. Because of this, Page developed a rock solid moral compass that has made him the poster boy for his family’s charitable efforts.
However, Page isn’t perfect and because he grew up filthy rich his perspective doesn’t always match with the real world’s harsher reality. Page often assumes anything he does will be incredibly easy, both because he’s had an exceptional education and because he’s had everything handed to him since he was a child. He also has no real concept of money, understanding only that he has more than he could ever need and that the system that allowed this probably isn’t very fair.
His favorite things to do are go to the city orchestra, do volunteer work, and organize charity drives for needy children. However, he is not allowed to set how much money his family donates as this would likely drive them to destitution within a week. Instead this is left to a very busy and often overly stressed family accountant named Steve.
The closest he and his superhero alter-ego get to being the same person is their desire to help the average citizen and their distaste for corruption.
Page’s biggest problem is that terrifying and deadly Nightshade is really just an act. Its something he does in his spare time because he has more money than he can give away, nothing to do with his days, and the understanding that he should probably be doing something to help his city. And since his father was a superhero he might as well be one too.
(Powers and Equipment)
Nightshade’s costume is an experimental padded bodysuit that offers unparalleled mobility and protection allowing him to leap from building to building like an acrobat while still being able to trade blows with super powered villains for a time.
While he would normally be considered the underdog against most super powered foes, his exceptional training and assortment of almost mind-boggling tech always seems to keep him one step ahead.
While most would criticize Nightshade for simply not having the will and drive that most other tragic backstory-laden heroes might have, his ability to retreat and reassess a strategy when things get tough has given him an exceptional success rate on UPO missions.
Nightshade has an assortment of ridiculously expensive and high-tech gadgets that he can tailor for any given circumstance to almost comical specificity. Heroes that team up with him often find themselves taken aback at the fact that he will have some piece of equipment to deal with literally any situation that comes up.
However, few realize that Nightshade isn’t totally powerless. Adam also inherited a small mutation from his mother that gives him cat-like senses and reflexes making it near impossible for anyone but the stealthiest opponents to sneak up on him.
