Yanno, normally I'm Mr. "Gotta have a background", but...Honestly? I'd put a few airbrushed lines in to suggest a fogbank, and that's it. Period. Don't kill this one with a detailed London streetscape, please.

Or maybe just do some spatter work with a tooth brush, ink and a seperate piece of paper, then cut and layer? Usually makes a really good rain effect cause it's random in size and density... and doesn't ruin the original.

I love that shading. Best I've seen in a long time. I'll always be a fan of black and white sketch art. Yeah, I'm currently guilty of vent art. Sometimes it makes the best art.

Holy crap. Just the shading on the umbrella is astounding, let alone the hair and the rest of the picture. And yay for melancholyness; as much as I'm goofy and caffeinated in person, writing melancholy scenes and whatnot can be soooooo cathartic.

I'm usually a pretty melancholy person in real life... I hardly portray that aspect of myself online. I think Hotch is a sillier person than me, but she has a dark past, too, so sometimes I like her to be serious.

...You're next on my commissions list, btw... I promise I'll get back to doing those as soon as I have the time and energy.

*nod* Don't rush yourself if you're not feeling it. Yeah, IRL I do tend to have a sharp shift between caffeinated hyperconfident jock and grumpy, irritable caffeine withdrawal writer. I think it's just a writer thing, or an artist thing. Online anymore I try to stay more positive and goofy, and usually try to keep myself from going online or at least from making a fool of myself whenever I'm in one of those aforementioned grumpy, irritable moods.

Hotch...that really is an incredible piece. I was literally astounded by the feeling in it. And I agree Marelmn, no background is really needed. This expresses everything as it is.

Another vote for leaving it as is. This needs nothing more to convey the emotion you wanted to.
