At BRFF 2020, YeeHaw Holopaw and Chocohusky (Electropaw) visited The Woolworth Walk in downtown Asheville, NC.
A former Woolworth's department store converted into an art gallery but still had an operating soda fountain/lunch counter.
I remember eating lunch at my local Woolworth's in Orlando, FL on the last day of business, 1997ish.
Some Woolworth's had a complete restaurant attached, "Harvest House", I ate there as a kid many times when Mommy took me to the mall.

They served a mean grilled cheese sandwich.
Any of you greymuzzles have any Woolworth's memories?

The Woolworths here in Greenville, SC got torn down to be replaced by a modern multi-story monstrosity.
Couldn't believe it, because it was a historic location relating to the civil rights movement back in 1960.

The one in my town was spared the wrecking ball and incorporated into a new movie theater/restaurant complex in the mid 2000's.

I was always intrigued by the huge freight elevator in the back of the building and the fact there was a fallout shelter in the basement. The one at a mall in the next town over, (where I often ate with my Mom) wasn't so lucky, being torn down 20 years ago to make way for a Sears, which is now ironically vacant..
