I was asked recently if Star has a winter coat and beinga eurasian lynx I guess she probably should.
Thing is I think she probably takes seasonal medication to make sure the winter coat doesnt come in, it's scratchy, the shedding blocks the drains and once the wintercoat is in she's just constantly too hot, cause lets face it in this day and age with houses and central heating and clothes anthro lynx really should have evolved to stop growing the winter coat.
Just a silly ten min doodle because i needed something dumb to cheer me up LOL

but then she would have to dry herself. Think about how long that would take. Even if you imagine shower/air drying solutions for anthros, think about how long it already takes for them to wash AND DRY their hands. But the whole body?
The few times I was given the responsibility of giving the family cat a bath as a kid, I had to hand dry him with a towel without getting mauled to death. Which ended up turning into wrapping him up like a purrito after getting most of the water out.
I am mostly being tongue in cheek though. :P

https://wildcatconservation.org/wil.....eurasian-lynx/ nope mainly russia these days but fun fact used to be in scotland and I do believe they are campaigning to reintroduce them back to scotland.
I don't think they ever lived in the UK. Scotland is not super densely populated and Lynxes thrive in difficult terrain that are extremely unfriendly to development. So they likely wouldn't be eradicated as they didn't really pose any sort of threat.
To some extent lynxes benefited from humans as humans killed off everything that could kill them like wolves and bears. Since lynxes are not strong enough to take outdoor lifestock. They only could take chickens and those were already vulnerable from foxes and were usually fenced off. Humans also attract lots of rabbits, rats and other vermin which lynxes love. The only thing holding them back is their reclusive and wild behavior which makes them uncomfortable when actually close to humans. So they can not live right next to humans and so are vulnerable to habitat destruction.

It's funny to think about things like this which would actually be a huge inconvenience if furries were real, and how they'd deal with it. I imagine she could also do what people do to some cats/dogs with long coats and just shave it all down every so often? Idk how well that'd work as a furry though.
That's odd. In a wold full of furries I just assumed everyone would own one of these:

I mean, it just stands to reason, doesn't it?

Well there is quantity and also quality. Our hair is a very important thing to us and so when we clip it we want it done well. They could just clip it shorter quite easily but it would be a complete mess. Since there isn't a lot of hair that mess is easily visible. However when it comes to fur across the entire body you wouldn't wouldn't notice a shoddy job.
Also our head is a relatively complex shape with it being rounded and having the ears in the way. With the rest of the body like the belly and back or thighs you can just clip off huge swats in no time at all. the more complex parts like the pelvis or the boobs would be more time consuming but they usually don't have that much fur to begin with.

I think I prefer Star in nice comfortable tan-brown colour. She loses her cuteness when she's all thick and fluffy (talk about old and grey lol!), even a diaper doesn't feel comfy over it. In real-life most animals that live further south of the northern hemisphere never grow winter coats.
Yes, but don't cats, and other animals that live inside year round NOT grow winter coats because they don't need them? Okay, Star goes out, but isn't out ALL the time, hence no need for a winter coat. She has Fee and Bob to keep her warm.
Okay, okay, so Bob keeps trying to set the bed on fire, but it IS warmth (and a bit of excitement!)

From what I've read, cats grow winter coats due to hormonal changes caused by seasonal changes in the light\dark cycle.

Every Canuckistanese individual feels that pain; summer's great, and then in winter, going anywhere without having a gazillion layers isn't possible...
So, you're either fine outside or cooking inside. And you suddenly don't fit in your car anymore, because you gained a bunch of inches in size, but barely any pounds in weight thanks to all the coats you're wearing... x_x

What kind of Lynx is Star? There are 4 species and none of them are native to the UK.
Her spots and light coloration and relatively slim build points to an Iberian Lynx but she doesn't have the massive cheek furs.
The Eurasian Lynx and American Lynx don't have it that extremely but they are build very stocky.
On the topic of fur can't you just clip it short? I do horseback riding and they can clip short an entire horse in just an afternoon.

That's winter mode for most, if not all, furries! Also, best for babyfurs to go out while in this wintercoat to have only t-shirt and nappy, the floof will keep the sweety eurasian lynx safe from outdoor freezing!
