A sketch of Captain Mange's semi-living ship, the Conqueror Worm, aka. Conquror.wrm. Not a true Digimon, the Worm is the Digital World manifestation of a Trojan virus that was placed by a vengeful ex-employee within the "Digimon Empire" game that serves as the portal in my story.
One of the things I have always loved about Digimon are the flat-out INSANE designs for some of the creatures, like someone channelled H.R. Giger, Coop, and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth while working on them. The best designs are like some kind of child's drawing or "hot rod culture" artwork brought to malevolent life, with organics and machinery twisting and melding to the point of not being able to tell where one ends and the other begins.
Captain Mange and her associates, particularly the ship here, was an attempt to emulate that design asthetic...I don't think I captured it as fully as I hoped, but I think the eyeball-cannons are a definite step in the proper direction.

Ya forgot to mention Clive Barker (Hellraiser). Look at any of the Virals, and you'll see like, Nails embedded in flesh, deformations, replacements of living tissue with mechanical apparati...
I loved the sheer originality of design, and the tangental 'evolutions'. I mean, seriously... that one that looked like a Seal, turned into a big Walrus, and then into... some kinda turtle with a hammer? And then there's logical evolutions (Agumon all the way up to his top form), or unrelated evolutions (Patamon - Angemon)... it was random, but with purpose and with intelligent design.
Which is why I had so much trouble designing another form for Kuro. His initial design was perfect to me... well, least till I dreamt up the design I'm working on. Just gotta learn how to draw fire well, before I attempt it. (it doesn't even have a name. The dream said it was "Fiery Skies", but I dunno what that'd mean.)

Curves, bits that sometimes hang off by themselves, and points, and don't be afraid to let your hand go where it wants to sometimes since fire is fairly random, too. Take a look at FlareRenamon and my fursona (male and female versions) for how I do it, if it'll help.
