Simple crime scene deduction can be used to figure out what happened Like the massive amount of burnt stuff everywhere the Giant claw prints left in the ground and the splatted slimes. Or the simple fact that anyone who says no survives is a lowed of shit because it should be anyone who remained didn't survive or someone could have been near the city hiding away while the shit storm was going down.
Problem is, do they know they have the right person, if it were a Crime Scene Scan?
Remember, Dragons are supposedly common enough to have a good number of them... And considering Braver is the son of the knight from Towergirls, there are at least four dragons, two with a matching set of powers to our Dragoness here... One who has a habit of Eating her Treasure, and the other who is the Former's Momma, and has Four extra heads with four extra elements.
And "Anyone who says no Survivors is a load of Shit" line, is said by those who are full of shit... And Yes, I know what I'm calling Jack Sparrow. Being Full of Shite is literally a Big part of Jack Sparrow's character.
"Someone could have been Near the City hiding away"? With the Radius of the attack the Dragon was shown in the story? Her entry alone would have killed any hideaways. The constant swooping and trailblazing? Same thing.
Won't surprise me if the story teller had been one of the Crime Scene investigators who was picking through the rubble... And that there was more to the tale... Like for instance, it wasn't a Dragon attack.
Remember, Flamethrowers existed in the Greek Empire.

The problem with the whole Greek flamethrower thing is the design was for lack of better terms completely useless outside of the very specific instances. Like attacking ships but that was at best a double-edged sword. It was not used in siege warfare at all because it was next to useless for reaching high which would be needed to fire over walls. For siege defense, it would be better but a bucket of flaming tar would be far more practical than the Greek flamer construct. Plus before anyone talks about the handheld variety that may big maybe here existed. Would still be impractical because again range and flamethrowers even modern ones can't really get the height. A dragon attack is still the more likely here so the Dragon better have a really good explanation that can change the narrative in their favor because if they don't we really can only trust the storyteller.
One, "Wrong Dragon" is already a strongly Listed possibility. The Kitsune Kingdom is the accurate one, because there were Survivors and standing infrastructure. Slime Kingdom? Completely razed, no survivors from how Braver is wording it. The Dragon could have been anyone in this possibility, especially since this is Set in the Towergirls universe. (Braver is the Son of the Protagonist from Towergirls, and highly likely the son of the Kobold Princess).
Two, The "Greek Flamethrowers are useless" is using IRL versions. Simply by having Slimes existing as a Sapient Species means Enhancements of Magical Means. Hell, if we use pure magic, a Squad of mages and warlocks spamming firespells can mimick the same effects of a Fire Dragon attack.
Technological means? Giant Robot, maybe one made by a Doolalee Artificer who is also a Pyromaniac. If we go the Extra Mile? Robot Dragon with a Greek Fire thrower... Maybe even one in the image of Our Current Dragon that Braver wants to Rape.
And three, how do we know the ones who "Investigated" weren't the ones who caused the Razing of the Slime Kingdom? That's one of the major things that seems to stand out. The Kitsune kingdom was still standing after the Dragon attack because it had faced war before and is surrounded by High Sturdy walls, while the Slime Kingdom never had to face war, and relied on the woods surrounding it, meaning they were virtually defenseless to even a Small Unit of Soldiers.
Even with the "Unreliable IRL Greek Fire thrower", you won't need THAT much effort to wheel in a Greek Fire unit to the Slime Kingdom, and torch them, while having heavily armed squads smash and bash the Helpless Slimes into the Dirt. It won't even BE a Seige, but a Massacre, as the Greek Flamethrower's biggest weakness, that being High Walls of Stone, are nonexistant in the Slime Kingdom.
So frankly, saying "It's the Dragon", falls rather flat when putting the Region and possibilities into account.

...This coming from the Wacky Kobold Knight that seems to hear what he wants to hear? Remember, Braver went out of his way to Hear only what he wanted to hear, from Royalty no less!
Adding to this, who told him the story? From how it's Told by Braver, The slime kingdom was completely razed, with zero survivors. That means the Info isn't even second hand from a Survivor, but Third hand from the aftermath!
Adding to that, this is a Millenia old Dragon, right? An Endbringer threat, yes-yes? That means she'd have learned long ago that "Wealth =/= Challenge"... And aside from outliers like Rimuru and Demon General Hans, Slimes are so Weak, a Low Level Farmhand can solo a big Group with a Pitchfork!
That means a Millenia old Dragon, who makes a Hobby of challenging Strong Kingdoms, would have completely ignored the Slime Kingdom, or Just Scared the Mucus outta them, but not razed the kingdom!
