So, in this tutorial, I aim to teach my friends on FA that are less skilled at art, how I draw my bodies.
I'm advancing the steps by drawing each new bit I add in standard black pencil, whereas everything else will be in blue.
Step 1) First, after I figure out my pose and where my head will be, I connect the head to the neck joint, the top circle. Then I draw a spine down and connect it to my hip joint, the circle with two smaller circles.
Step 2) Now, from the neck to the hips, I draw this jellybean-type shape, making sure that the top is bigger than the bottom, taking into account the ribcage. The crosslines I draw on the body shape help me determine which way the pecs+six-pack (for guys) or breasts (for girls), as well as clothes, face when I draw them.
Step 3) Then come the sausages for the arms and curvy rectangles for the hands. Cylinder for the neck, head not there.
Step 4) And on goes the outline. Usually, before I slap on the outline, I also draw whatever clothes I have planned for my character, but in this case, its just an example, so on goes the black outline.
At the bottom are just some examples of how the jellybean shape can be use to help you imagine what a twisting or bending body might look like. Ignore the arms, just the body.
