Not sure if your willing to take sugjestions but how about animals that go with the charactor's elements. Such as
Some type of bird for Hay Lin
Fish, Mermaid, or Sea Mamal for Irma
Dragon or Salimander for Taranee
and Some kind of Plant creature for Cornelia as she has as much control of that as with earth.
