I wanted to do a slightly more in depth tutorial on rabbits than before.
I put this together because most of the information on rabbits is scattered and there is also a lot of unreliable information I found out there just by doing research for this.
I know that cartoons do not have to be accurate, but one should at least be aware of what the real animal looks like before they start designing their character.
There are some minor issues with the rabbit skeleton I drew, pardon those... it was just an attempt to give people some reference on how the joints work.

Rabbit and hare lover here...as much as I love cartoon fru-fru bunnies, I actually like when people can take the realistic features of both a hare and a rabbit and make it cartoony. There are often a lot of features of hares that I like that people don't even put into their figures because its not 'cute' enough such as the non-puppy noses and the fact that the ears are NOT directly on the top of the head.
And also, don't stress yourself out too much for not putting EVERY FREAKING DETAIL into the skeleton of the rabbit, especially for this tutorial. Even in a simple form like this, it at least gives the basic information that is needed. I know there are people who just shit on basic anatomy but there are also people who will treat you like crap for not getting everything 100% right which kind of defeats the purpose of exaggerating the features in the first place! XD
""Big noses:
Not sure where this started, but these are rabbits folks not dogs."
THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH ;___;
You have no idea how much it bothers me to see people make their semi-realistic rabbits have nose pads. NO. I've lived with and raised rabbits for 23 years, and that is not what a rabbit looks like, thank you very much.
......The thing that bothers me the second most is when they put the "buck teeth" on the outside of their faces. I'm like....All of your characters... have.... malocclusion.

I knew everything this mentioned save for the pawpads thing... I seriously did not know that and I even have owned two rabbits. I guess I just thought that like their fluff covered them. That is so weird. BUT I LEARNED SOMETHING NEW AND NOW I CAN SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD. Thank you.
Also, I have no idea how people think 'puppy noses' are cuter than rabbit noses. Seriously, just have these people watch them wiggle while they chew for about an hour then challenge them to say otherwise.

I haven't done one for anthro bodies. mostly because there's so many ways to interpret an anthro form.
The hard part with rabbits is that they can use both the whole of their foot or just the toes depending on how the artist wants to draw it. I even draw my bunny character, Lefty, with small plantigrade feet. So it's more how you want your character to come across.

Yeah I noticed that doing research and it was just 'ughhhh'. I thought I'd ask because I still really can't get the legs to look right either way, something's just off to me, I can't wrap my heard around how to do it. In the current picture I'm work on it doesn't matter as much because of the pose but it still doesn't look rabbity enough to me and nor do other sketches I've tried.
Thanks! I'd appreciate it!
The one I'm working on now is nearly done and was a study in a lot of things, not just my ability to draw rabbits, but when I start the next sketch I will.
I feel kind of bad saying anthro rabbits really get my 'fire' going but my wanting to draw a lot of the anthro rabbits I find cute in the innocent or not so innocent way is probably going to drive me into being a better artist, just by the sheer number of drawings I want to do.
