Commission for my Buddy Chrismukkah.....This is my reimagining of Yankee Poodle, one of the characters from the short-lived 1970's DC Comics series,CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS ZOO CREW....In a nutshell,Superman discovers "Earth-C"....a paralell Earth inhabited by what we now call Furries, and as it turns out,"Earth -C" has it's own Heroes,of which this lovely lass is one.....I loved the concept, but it could have been executed so much better....thus,here is Yankee Poodle,my style! I couldn't recall much about her powers,so my version has what I call all the "Default" Superhero powers....Flight,Super strength and speed,etc.....I've also given her a weapon shaped like the statue of liberty's torch, which shoots energy bolts that resemble fireworks......Yankee Poodle and CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS ZOO CREW c. DC Comics....all rights reserved.

That was a bad ass comic shop. They had busts of characters (Including transformers) model kits, old toys like the entire constructacon set that could turn into devistator, and the entire toy set of voltron that could transform into voltron, and various furry comics (I think one of them was something like 'The hazards of modern dating')
Then they closed it down. Now the only comic shop we got in town is just crappy. Everything is overpriced and there is nothing there I have not seen at barns-and-nobles. -.-
Depressing! ..Q.Q..

Heeheeh That's the Hottest version of Good Ol' Rova Barkitt(Secret ID) I've ever seen!:)
Yankee Poodle's ORIGIN -
While interviewing movie actor Byrd Rentals in his Follywood home, Rova was struck by a meteor fragment (which was launched toward Earth by the villain Starro the Conqueror); the result gave her the superpowers of "animal magnetism", as she described them. Joining with Byrd (who was also transformed by a separate meteor fragment), the two teamed up with other super-powered animals affected by the meteor; together, the group defeated Starro (with the aid of Superman), and decided to form the superhero team called the Zoo Crew.
Rova tended to reflect the values of her Follywood roots, and thus had a great fondness of things such as the group's public image, or her own (both in and out of costume). She also occasionally got into spats with the group's other female member, Alley-Kat-Abra.

now as much as i like your version better (sexier).its not fair to knock scott shaw!`s work.unless youre talking about the writing. SCptt did a great job drawing them as funny animals .he wasnt trying to go for sex appeal pr anything. In fact hes a bit amused by that whole aspect of the furry fandom.
Oh,I'm not knocking Shaw's part at all,but looking back, the comic did have that one fatal flaw...it just wasn't funny! DC made an attempt to revive it a couple years back, but this time poor Scott's heart wasn't in it and it shows....like I said,GREAT concept, decent art, crap writing.....I'd REALLY love to approach DC with a full blown reimagining...but I don't know anyone there anymore...feh! >_<
Your version of Yankee Poodle is a 100% improvement on the original design, Rusty. Not only does Rova look younger, sexier, and more toned, but the costume's a helluva lot more dynamic. You'd have to lose the Captain America belt buckle, but the "patriot" buckles on the boots are a beautifully subtle touch.
Yeah, the problem with the original series was Roy Thomas's crappy writing, and the problem with the recent revival was that there were only enough pages to tell a fragment of a story. I hope you get a crack at drawing a rebooted Zoo Crew comic some day...this pic proves that in the right hands, a new series could have a lot of potential!

Can't say I've ever heard of that comic book series on this side of the duck pond, but this is a very interesting character design. Love the way you made her "action pose" look lively too. Can't help but get attached to the expression you game her as well. Seeing that kind of look in a femmes eyes... :P Also, nice additional detail work in the background. Nice work. :)
....Yeah,the "Patriotic Superhero" motiff is pretty well mined territory....I just pulled out every kitschy trick I had at my disposal when I designed her costume,etc.....I'm very pleased with her...classic comic book cheesecake...the kind of girl that gave Dr.Frederic Wertham fits back in the 1950's! ^ ^
Yet another stunner, Rusty! I agree with Roochak: your version of Yankee Poodle does look better than the original! (BTW, here are YP's powers, courtesy of Wikipedia: "Rova gained the ability to project a repelling force [in the form of blue stars] with one hand and an attraction force [in the form of red-and-white stripes] with the other.") While I wouldn't call Roy Thomas' writing "crappy," I thought it emphasized bad puns and other superficial humor too much. I'd love to see a "Zoo Crew" revival with character-based humor, a la "Kim Possible" or "Juniper Lee." Finally, Rusty, I hope you draw the rest of the Zoo Crew--or at least Alley-Kat-Abra.

Yes.
It's coming back.
(I've been thinking of drawing her for a while, also, I want to buy all the zoo crew issues)
