Character design can be very challenging. I want to create characters that feel unique and interesting, but I also don't want to go crazy; bonkers patterns and colors (although this comic is B&W so colors are less of an issue) really feel out of place and not grounded in reality, something that's important for this world to make sense.

Little details are also key to good character development. Notice the subtle necklass he's wearing; it's a simple string tied into a Hercules Knot, a Greek symbol of love and commitment. This is silent storytelling; a visual hint at his backstory.
