Arrangement: Sure On This Shining Night
It might be saddening but worth knowing to you folks that in the case of the real me, as much as I love marching bands, I didn't ever perform in one in high school or college; this is because I discovered singing in choirs and as a soloist actually suited my autistic personality way better. Thus, the real me has a communications degree, Bachelor of Sciences, but with a music minor in vocal performance.
In continuing the project of doing these transcriptions of what I've sung for instruments, I decided to make this one as one of my traditional "instrumental rehearsal tracks," using the same system I have been using. The piece is "Sure on This Shining Night" by Samuel Barber, with text by James Agee. The instruments used are:
Alto saxophone (representing soprano part)
Tenor saxophone (representing alto part)
Glockenspiel (representing tenor part, but playing two octaves higher due to score placement)
Baritone saxophone (representing bass part)
Vibraphone (playing same bass part one octave higher)
Marimba (playing accompaniment)
Piano (playing same accompaniment)
