While Your Lips are Still Red
"First day of love never comes back
A passionate hour's never a wasted one
The violin, the poet's hand
Every thawing heart plays your theme with care
Kiss while your lips are still red
While he's still silent
Rest while bosom is still untouched, unveiled
Hold another hand while the hand's still without a tool
Drown into eyes while they're still blind
Love while the night still hides the withering dawn"
"While Your Lips are Still Red" from the movie "Lieksa!" is one of the most heart-achingly beautiful songs EVAH. Who knew Marco had the voice of an angel? I am SO having this song played at my wedding reception.

I'm actually working on a larger, traditionally colored piece dedicated to this song, but it inspired this piece too, as well as a certain, annoying, DevArt tartlet. Ha ha! Kiss my fan art!
I decided a quick piece like this would be a good time to play around with Photoshop some more, and mess around with filters and brushes.

Thank you very much ^_^
I've been using Photoshop for a little over 15 years, but have always done a cel-shading style. Been trying to get away from that so that I can achieve a softer look to the characters. Starting to feel a little bit better in regards to the progress. It's getting faster every time.

I'll be the first one to say that I despise photoshop with a blood red passion. I didn't start using it until two years ago because...well, when you are a graphic design major, it's a necessary evil. I went into it kicking and screaming, though. I like how you're using very warm colors to shade with. It's unique and gives things a kind of bubbly feel. The characters really make you just want to reach out and touch them.
I hear ya. I still greatly prefer traditional methods of coloring. I feel like I have more control.
Alethia was actually shaded pink and purple and beige ( 3 layers ), but when I ended up going with the yellow sunburst type background, figured yellow light should be highlighed on her. So tweaked the color balance and voila. That's the one good thing about Photoshop- it lets you change your mind easily enough.
