Twitch, the skaterboy. Sort of. He was pretty clearly inspired by Sonic Riders, and he in turn inspired me to buy some rollerblades of my own. I'm not bad with them, too. He; like Zeke; was hanging about on my lappy for a good month or so. But here he is.
Name: Thomas ‘Twitch’ Dex
Species: Furret
Battle Skill: High
Average Grades: 41%
Age: 18
Height: 4’10” (1.5m)
Weight: 103.4lbs (47kg)
Grade: Senior
Family: Original Father: Lamorak ‘Jet’ Dex (Furret), Original Mother: Diana Dex (Furret)
Current Father: N/A Current Mother: Vivian ‘Vixy’ Kamille (Ninetales)
Current Brother: Zeke Pegasus (Latios)
History:
Thomas’s father was once renown as one of the best stunt-bikers across the island, well known for his uncanny skill in a variety of vehicles, from motorbikes (his specialty) to roller-blades. Even over the age of 30 he continued his trade, despite being married and having a son. While this impressed the world, it did not impress his wife, who was constantly worried about her husband’s safety…
Lamorak was inevitably killed in his job, having crashed during a race. The crash was though to have been set up by another competitor, James Lane, who at the time was Lamorak’s self-proclaimed rival. With the death of her husband Diana put Thomas up for adoption, as she was unable to handle the stress of pulling Thomas through such times along with having to work full time in order to sustain her family.
Thomas was finally adopted at the age of 5, two years after his father’s death. He was adopted by Vivian Kamille, who longed for a family and had the finances to support one, but had bad experiences in her time dating. She brought him up as one of her own, eventually pulling him through the emotional damage caused by his father’s death.
Since then, Thomas has made it through most of high school in the PCA with his little brother Zeke, whom he is very protective of. However, he has recently vowed to enact revenge against his father’s ‘murderer’; the first sign since his youth that he has not yet moved on from his father’s death.
Personality:
Thomas, like his father, is rather cocky and reckless. With his love of speed and thrills he makes a perfect fighter, but can often cause trouble in classes. He is generally thought to think little of both his teammates and opponents, rarely showing any respect to them; though in truth he is simply still searching for an opponent he can respect. While usually he is rather demanding of his teammates he seems to have a softer side, often going out of his way to help others who are in trouble. He particularly holds strong feelings for his little brother, whom he is fiercely protective of, and of his mother, whom he respects greatly.
While he is usually optimistic and easy-going, he has secret doubts about his path in life: does he follow in his father’s footsteps and become a new stunt champion, or will he settle down to a quiet life and avoid such risks?
Interests:
Thomas has a passion for pulling tricks and stunts, and is thus skilled in free-running, though in truth he prefers to use other methods of travel; particularly skateboarding, cycling, and his personal favourite, roller-blading. He even uses his roller-blades in battles at the PCA when he gets the chance, though he doesn’t use them as weapons, preferring to simply enjoy their speed and freedom.
While he enjoys the thrill of battles, he loves races best, and will hold deep respect for anyone who can beat him in one. He is up for any type of race, as long as it doesn’t entail something that he truly can’t handle (swimming, flying, drving, etc).
Moves:
Freshman Moves:
Me First: Thomas’s signature move. With it he interrupts his opponent’s attacks and uses the move they were preparing before they have a chance to use it, even if he can’t use the move himself. Strangely, he can only copy the moves and use them in the spur of the moment, and is unable to reuse any moves he’s stolen in this way.
Quick Attack: All of Thomas’s moves have his high-speed thrown into them, and this is the bluntest example of that. Boosting himself up to high speeds Thomas can strike before any opponent can react with this move, outrunning even foes that are otherwise faster.
Foresight: Thomas’s new mother’s supernatural powers seem to have linked with Thomas somehow, as he has gained the ability to see through simple illusions with his normal vision since he was adopted by her. Whenever he sees such an illusion he tends to twitch in some way, which eventually led to his nickname.
Pursuit: While generally Thomas keeps at a fast, but not uncontrollable speed, by tapping into his powers he can reach speeds that he himself cannot control. With this move he taps into that ability to catch out fleeing opponents, keeping control over himself by using the predictable nature of fleeing pokemon to position the end of his dash.
Sophomore Moves:
Follow Me: While Thomas tends to be a bit of a lone wolf, even in team battles. However, he has a soft spot for his little brother Zeke (and any cute girls, of course). With this move Thomas distracts his foes from his allies with a demonstration of what most students and teachers of the school agree to be the most annoying taunt in the world: ‘You’re too slow!’
Double Team: Using a combination of his speed and a bit of natural power, Thomas creates a trail of ‘ghost images’ of himself behind himself as he runs in order to shake off attacks. He was taught this by Valence from Team Excalibur in exchange for a one-off date, which he actually followed up on.
Shadow Claw: While doing so is very difficult, it is possible to truly infuriate Thomas. The easiest way to push him to his limit is by picking on his little brother Zeke, whom he is ferociously protective of. When pushed to these limits he uses his most dangerous moves, such as this. With this move he conjures a claw made of dark energies, and violently slashes his opponent.
Fury Swipes: Fitting with his speed-based style, with this move Zeke makes a flurry of slashing attacks which often leaves his opponents dazzled by the speed.
Junior Moves:
Sucker Punch: Like he does in Me First, with this move he uses his speed to interrupt his foe’s attack. With the enemy dazed by his speed he slams his foe in the stomach with both hands, sending them reeling.
Baton Pass: Another of Thomas’s rare team moves. With this move he summons an odd baton to his hand, passing it to a teammate. When caught it carries over all the boosts to his abilities to the bearer, although this means it can be caught by an enemy as well, stealing his effects.
Fury Cutter: With this move Thomas begins an oddly slow combination of slashing arm attacks. With each blow stronger than the last, this move quickly racks up damage, and is usually Thomas’s finishing blow.
Frustration: While it is difficult to make Thomas truly enraged, he is easily frustrated by tough opponents With a flailing series of hits this move takes most of his opponents by surprised, but leaves Thomas open.
Senior Moves:
Shock Wave: With a leg sweep Thomas creates a bolt of thunder, which lightly shocks it’s victim. While it’s generally quite weak he can use it repeatedly without tiring, and is important as it is one of his only ranged attack.
Dig: A bit of a natural ability for Furrets, Thomas is a very fast and efficient digger, though he dislikes being underground due to his weak but existent claustrophobia.
Iron Tail: One of Thomas’s favourite moves, with this he swings his tail around himself midair, mystically hardening it for impacting an enemy. The tail’s boosted hardness rivals that of steel, often leaving a heavy bruise.
Protect: With a quick wave of his hand Thomas creates a hexagonal shield to block attacks. While Aero uses this move’s shield as a prolonged shield, Thomas uses it to simply block a single blow quickly in order to fit in a counter.
Appearance:
Thomas is rather tall for a Furret, though he still manages to be quite flexible even at that size, as he still has the cylindrical shape of a Furret. He generally wears jump-suits and simple sports gears, and usually wears (or at least takes) his roller-blades wherever he goes.
Team and Relationships:
Thomas’s cocky nature often strikes people the wrong way, and thus doesn’t earn him many friends. However, he maintains good relationships with whoever he can, though he has his fair share of enemies too. He, like Zeke, often clashes with Aero, because of their rivalling speed-based styles, and he is often considered rivals with Alicia due to their similar personalities. He is very close to Zeke, since he’s his brother and all, and is closest to his mother, whom he can usually be found doing errands for and otherwise helping. He is probably the best friend of Valence, oddly enough, as he doesn’t reject the Ninetales outright and nor does he show any signs of awkwardness around him.
Twitch currently has a grudge against Rayza from Team Dracostrikers since Karah described him as being faster than him, which has made him determined to leave the boy in dust to prove his status as the fastest.
