Kathy's form is excellent so far.
Keeping her buckler up, where she can punch block attacks and get in a fast shield strike if Jingur keeps leaving herself open like that.
Last panel, her whole sword arm is exposed to a quick thrust at the muscles and veins under the arm.
Sorry.
Sword work has been my thing for a few decades.

True.
The armpit is a nexus of important tissues.
Line the blade up right, and you can penetrate all the way to the lungs and heart in a single thrust.
It was a classic target point during the era of rapier dueling.
A good slash at the outside/underside of the arm will cut all the muscles, and the largest veins in one stroke.
Its both a crippling blow and a lethal one, as the person hit will bleed to death very quickly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQKrmDLvijo I'm just sayin'.
They are wearing knife-resistant tunics under their armor cuiarsses, so basically, only their arms, legs, and heads are unprotected. Jinjur is also wearing boots and gauntlets, so that further reduces her target area. Kathy's wearing that diamond-weave shirt Fred gave her, and the armor "made from clamshell technology."
I would have given them helmets, but I wanted their faces unobscured.

I think she's deliberately telegraphing. Basically, she's showboating right now. As far as she's concerned, there's no way she's gonna lose, so she might as well make a spectacle of it. And it also lets her gauge her opponent's competence as well, by seeing how she responds to an opening or an obvious strike, relying on what she considers to be her superior reflexes to be able to riposte or parry any potential attempt at taking advantage of the (many) openings.
She could also be 'fishing' to get a feel for her opponent. And I'm sure that's how she's rationalized it in her head. But really... she's showboating because of arrogance. Which... tend to end poorly in a sword fight.

That's pretty much it. Jinjur could kill Kathy almost immediately, but she has to give at least a token impression that she will abide by the Empress's edict for the fight to be non-lethal. She wants to make an example of Kathy by toying with her and cutting her, slowly, to pieces. She also wants to try to draw Kathy out to find her skill level.
Torturing Fred by dragging this out is also one of her intentions. "You thought you could supplant me with this actress you hired? I shall return her to you in numerous small boxes!"
If she knew that Kathy was a good swordame, Jinjur's tactics would be much different. Right now she's going to slap Kathy around like a cat with a mouse.

While I realize that many of my readers know far more about the practical use of swords than I do, please keep in mind that you are looking at a frozen moment in time with these pictures--Jinjur certainly didn't stand there posing for several minutes while somebody painted her portrait. Kathy can't take advantage of anything because the action is moving at blinding speed.
Go Cathy, Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All this build-up and it's finally happening. I like how you switch perspectives in the last panels to make it more dramatic. I know you've been working hard to bring us this fight and I can't wait to see how it pans out. Thank you so much, KD😀😀😀😀
