I swear I am seeing more and more irresponsibility by the minute and it is driving me insane.

When I was in primary school, I found young, starving and little cat at parking near my school. She came to me and my mom so we took her. Since that moment, 12 years ago, she is still with us and she is the most beloved cat ever.

Yeah. That is a gift that truly needs to be thought out well.

Must be so devastating for a puppy to experience that.

is so awful see people do a despicable act like that, without know an animal is a living being too, i have a siberian shepherd with me living around 5 years, and despite have a weird and sometimes bad aptitude,stay with me and my family, even in the worst moments, despite my work, i give her some love, if was me, as present give me an pet animal of any kind (specially beast buddies like crocs, lizards or even arachnids or lions) i will accpet, and i find a way to live with them, even learn of them

I work in an animal shelter and this is something we always dread. For the love of God if you know someone who's going to get a puppy on Christmas, PLEASE make sure they're willing and able to care for it for the next 15 - 20 years.

Poor puppies, if they ever end up in negligent families...

Same goes for buying a pet (even goldfish).

The only time I feel this is acceptable is if the addition of a puppy, dog, cat, kitten, etc., had been discussed before the holidays. The one time I worked Christmas, I legit had people come in looking for stuff for puppies or kittens, literally fully unprepared and one even told me that he had no idea what to get for a puppy. I gladly helped him, but it was shocking. You shouldn't spring it on someone like that. I completely understand wanting to surprise someone with it, but you still have to discuss and be as prepared as possible for the addition of the new family member.

People who do this should get a big slap on their head.

Adopt a dog is like adoot a new kid, he need love and caring but also lot of focus.... Those people than offer an animal at Xmas without even have think about all these problems it involve are realy stupid -w-....

As an animal lover I absolutly CAN'T stand people than not respect animals and consider them like nothing or just a plushie you can let in.a corner.... the worst are those than abandon these poor doggy alone on a road's side in the snow..... damn f*****rs we shoukd make submit you the sape treatment èwé!!

Well it's a nice draw you did here , full of consideration for animals's well being so hooe it will make some peoples think twice before offer an animal as gift.

100% agree, animals are to care for life , not for a few weeks and then dumped. It's horrible to see this happening over and over.
Sad but it needst o be brought to attention over and over.
