And wow... the slice-of-life background is amazing. I really like stuff where it's not just a character floating in a void. This really pulls you into the scene.

I'll tell you what I told a friend of mine ^_^

The bar and hut were painted. The forms I wanted were created and the basic colors, shadows and highlights were painted on and then I took photo elements together on top of that, The hardest one was the wood on the bar, trying to line up each beam so the perspective looked relatively ok.

The beach itself was referenced, but painted, could never get the water effect i wanted though :P

Dam that pic makes me want to go to the beach (wishes it wasn't freezing outside). That backround looks awesome, I thought it was a photo you blurred and cropped in the picture when I first looked at it. Nice raptor also, I love the shine he has.

Gah this is so gorgeous! The raptor himself looks wonderful, I just love his pose and his cute shirt, and that martini is great. And I like the hyena bar tender! Whoa! Now this is almost scary. I commissioned one other artist last summer to make my character in almost same kind of situation and the clothing is quite close too o_o (though my character only drinks cola :P)

The background and texture effects are perfectly implemented, and personally, I like the shiny scales. It draws your attention into the picture -- extremely nice.
