I really dig this piece being a longbow archer myself! 😊🏹
I do cheat though since I use a stringer with my bows rather than the step through method. 😉

Using a stringer prevents the bow from doing wanton acts of violence upon oneself.

Yes it is much safer than the method shown above. All of my English Longbows have an extra groove in the top nock to accommodate a stringer. 🙂
