I can't believe I haven't uploaded this on here yet... I'll stick it in scraps in a bit.
It's my custom mjölnir tattoo, a hammer of Thor design, with some scandinavian knotwork in the head of the hammer.
Symbolism in the piece includes a helmet design based on one found in the Sutton Hoo dig site in the UK (I'm English, I live in Iceland, go figure). Thor's rams are in the knotwork towards the thicker part of my forearm.
The smoke/mist was entirely freehand. The whole piece from start to finish was completed a single sitting, roughly six hours, by Jón Páll of the Icelandic Tattoo Corp in Reykjavík, and covers my inner forearm from the inside of my elbow to my wrist.
Picture was taken almost a year ago, roughly 3 weeks after the piece was completed. Now the black, grey and white inks have blended a lot smoother and the whole thing looks a lot more striking.
I want to stress again, this isn't some piece of flash found in a book, this was specifically designed for me, and the original art is copyright Jón Páll Halldórsson. Although I suppose technically since it's on my arm, it's copyright me, too.

Thanks! A lot of planning (and an obscene amount of money, not to mention the 8 month waiting list for this artist) went into this. It's such a shame how many people can get their hands on tattooing gear now, and realyl make a hash of some of the stuff they do. As I said to the other commenter, the picture really doesn't do this justice at all. Literally every line is perfect, and the '3D' effect is quite impressive in person.
