Marble is a wild graspyn who is both feared and admired by surrounding cities of quivrii. She is the leader of her family group (called a cluster). She's about 85 years old, which is not that old for a graspyn (they typically live to be 210 if they aren't hunted first). Marble is very good at hunting land animals like pigs, deer, and bears, but she's terrible at fishing. Her daughter Leaf is very good at fishing, oddly enough.

Both Leaf and Marble are good at cooking, their specialty is bone marrow cakes with mushroom sauce.

Biologists have relocated Marble and her family a few times to combat the overpopulation of certain animals.

During the course of her life, Marble has had several mates. The two most serious and long lasting relationships were with Harvest, another graspyn who was killed during an act of war...and Cirrus, a seer from the city. Cirrus tried for many years to tame Marble so she could integrate into quivrii/seer society. However, no matter how hard she tried, Marble was always wild. Cirrus eventually leaves Marble for one of her own kind and it's pretty devastating to Marble. She currently has no mate, though she will have the occasional fling with other graspyns in the area.
