Here's something I wrote after starting my job at BK
The fryer terrifies me and this is a worst case scenario I guess.
I wrote this during my first ever Livestream
Yay 7/8 time! Totally appropriate for acoustic folk right?
Lyrics:
He stumbles in, hat on his head
wears his badge, shirt tucked in
hits the clock types in his number
sighs as his shift begins
manager creeps up behind him
“Get those hands under some water
once you’ve gotten both gloves on
could you be a pal and clean the fryer?”
Chorus:
Was it worth 7.50 an hour
to put collection in it’s place
was it worth 7.50 an hour
to rid yourself of the taste
He walks over to the metal beast
pits of molten oil writhing
kneels before the tanks of grease
pulls the switch and sends it flowing
stepping back he grabs the hose
rinsing out the starch and grime
scrubbing walls inside the steam
he wears thick gloves grow hot with time
Chorus
He fumbles, hose slipping from his hand
“god help” but none took demand
shrieking he slipped and he fell
covered from ear to arm in hell
Chorus
Was it worth giving up half your face
The fryer terrifies me and this is a worst case scenario I guess.

Well, 7/8 the most varied of all the non-hyper confusing constantly changing metres.
Say, the manager isn't too bad, at least he's courteous. I love the rhyme scheme in the lyrics, quite nice, not too obvious, a little near rhyme keeps everything nice and unified.
But man, falling into the firer, wow that's some tough ending. It would be wonderful if word painting worked in rock, but I don't think it works (though there's no harm in having an experiment), of course I've never tried it in anything than choral music, I wonder, how would it work in rock? Anyway, it's not to important because you do start off with one voice for the first three lines of that stanza and then add the other parts, ¡exciting!
Too bad I didn't stay long enough to understand what was going on! But it seems that working on live stream does lead to some pretty wicked stuff!
