Chapter 11: Getting to Know You
(Meanwhile, in the Disney Universe...)
Melody was all dressed up for today’s activities; a yellow and white version of her mother’s dress with a tiara adorned on top of her head. She made sure that everything was fine and good before heading out of her room. Truth be told, she was amazed to see the servants to escort so many guests and was a little frightened at first.
However, when she saw that they all had children, she grew hopeful. She was especially happy to see Tracy with her parents. “They have a daughter!!” She thought excitedly. “This is my chance to make a new friend; I hope she loves adventures!!” Hurriedly, she made downstairs.
Tracy looked around eagerly while her parents made themselves comfortable. Having grown up in a large palace herself, she felt a warm and inviting atmosphere all around her. Truth is, she was a little nervous about staying in a strange place, but her parents had taught her not to make false assumptions or hasty decisions.
Tracy was just as adventurous as her father, always eager to explore new places and meet new people. However, she also inherited her mother’s kindness and strength of heart. It was then she noticed Melody and waved at her. Melody waved back, smiling widely. She seemed like a good person, but she had to be sure of her actions.
“Hi there!” She greeted. “I’m Melody! It’s nice to meet you...” She started to continue when a loud yell came from the door. Tracy and Melody turned in surprise to see Mainard leaping into the room with excitement. His face was lit with curiosity and mischief. Cinderella and Charlie managed to move out of the way before the boy could bowl into them.
“Wow!!” He exclaimed “This place looks great, just like my father’s castle!!” “And it’s by the ocean too!!!” He turned and headed up the stairs but he was so excited on being on land and exploring a new face that he did not look where he was going. When he was VERY close to Tracy, he finally got his wits back.
Imagine the looks of their faces when they locked eyes with each other, their eyes widened and for a split second, something seemed to pass between them. However, it was cut short when Tracy cleared her throat and took a step a back, giving the boy a firm glare.
“Excuse me, but I believe you are a little close for comfort.” She spoke in a polite and firm voice, causing Mainard to back away quickly. “Sorry, miss.” He replied. “I hope I didn’t hurt you.” Tracy smiled at little; at least he was remembered to be well-mannered. There was a hint of a blush on her cheeks, which sparked when they locked eyes with each other. Fortunately, no one noticed it.
“It’s alright.” She spoke. “And may I ask, who you are?” The prince stood proud with his chest worked. “I’m Prince Mainard, son of King Adam and Queen Belle; it’s a pleasure to meet you both!” He replied, grinned wildly. Tracy and Melody giggled at his smile. It was brimming with confidence, but it also seemed like the grin of a wild creature.
“Sorry about before,” he added. “but I’m just so excited about visiting a new place.” “By the way, what are your names?” Melody and Tracy introduced themselves, for the former, she was starting to feel a strange attraction to the young wild prince.
“Excuse me...” Another voice called out. The three friends turned to see Kathrin and they were struck by her beauty. Behind her was Prince Edgard and Princess Dianne. Just like Mainard, both shared the same look of mischief in their face. “Mind if we join you?”
“Of course!” Melody replied. “Can you tell us your names?” Kathrin curtsied and smiled gently. “I am Princess Kathrin and it’s nice to meet you, Princess Melody.” Melody smiled back, seeing a good opportunity to make a new friend.
Dianne was next. “I’m Princess Dianne!” She replied cheerfully. “I hope we’ll have lot.” Melody giggled, sensing right from the start that she was an adventurer at heart. Edgard stepped forward, his chest high and proud. “Prince Edgard at your service, my lady!” He added smiling. “I hope you don’t mind a prank or two. I would love to see a beautiful girl in action when it comes to pranks!”
Melody blushed brightly, while embarrassed by his words, she did like to spread a little joke around or two. So long as it wasn’t cruel or tactless. “Nice to see you all getting along so well.” Another voice called out. The five royal children turned to see 5 more children, dressed in royal attire approaching them.
“I assume, you must be princess Melody.” One of the Chinese girls spoke up, smiling politely and bowing low, much to Melody’s great pleasure. “I’m Li Ping, and this is my sister, Li Jin” she added, gesturing to the lovely girl next to her. “We are the daughters of Fa Mulan and General Li Shang.”
“Fa Mulan!!” Tracy squealed in delight, rushing forward. “I’ve heard so much about your mom and how she saved China!!” The twin daughters blushed in embarrassment. It seemed that their mother’s reputation had spread far and wide beyond China itself.
The Arabian Twins were next. “I’m Prince Azad,” The young prince of Agrabah introduced. “it’s an honor to meet you, princess Melody.” Melody smiled. “It’s nice to meet you too, Azad” she replied. She turned to the lovely Arabian girl nearby. “And you must be his sister.” The latter smiled. “Princess Malak, at your service.”
Radelle stepped forward. “Pleasure to meet you, your highness.” She spoke. “I’m Radelle, daughter of Crown Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen.” “Princess Tiana?” Kathrin asked. “The owner of Tiana’s Palace?” Radelle nodded proudly. “That’s the one!” She replied. “My mom’s been teaching everything she knows about culinary skills!!”
Mainard licked his lips in excitement. “Really?” He asked. “I hope we have chance to have a taste of your cooking.” Radelle grinned. “Don’t worry!!” She replied. “My mom taught me special gumbo recipe and you guys will be the first to have some.” The other kids enjoyed Radelle’s open minded attitude
“Excuse me...” A voice called out. The royal children turned to see the last of the young guests arriving. It was Princess Luciana and her brother, Prince Garrick. “Mind if we join in?” She asked. Melody smiled. “Sure, we’re always welcome to meet new faces!” Luciana smiled. “You must be Melody!” She added. “Thanks for inviting us, I’m Princess Luciana.”
“You’re welcome,” Melody replied. “And I see you-” She stopped in mid-sentence and her eyes widened when she saw Garrick. The mop of brown hair, his athletic mesomorphic build and his shining hazel eyes. Her cheeks turned pink and her heart beat slightly. “Hi.” She squeaked out.
Garrick grinned and shook her hand. “Pleased to meet you, Melody.” He replied, making Melody blush harder and the other kids laugh at the sight. “Prince Garrick at your service.” “Y-You’re welcome.” she replied. Luciana giggled at Melody’s reaction. “Looks like Melody’s got eyes for my brother.”
Snapping out her trance, Melody turned to all the royal children. “Well, I hope you enjoy your stay!” She stated. “I’ll make sure all of us have fun before and during my birthday when it comes!” “Now, how about I give you a tour of my home?” “Sure, lead the way!” Tracy replied.
Soon, Melody turned and led the others upstairs to the upper levels. “I hope there will be lots of good hiding places!” Azad spoke up. “Me too!” Mainard added, some excitement stirring inside of him. “I would love to give the servants around here a little bit of a scare!” “Hey, save some excitement for me!” Garrick called out.
As the boys raced off, Malak sighed as she watched her brother. “Brothers...” she giggled. “They’re all the same, aren’t they?” “They certainly are.” Luciana replied, smiling as well. “But that’s what we love about them.” The two girls laughed and began to have a conversation, easily sensing something they have in common.
Kathrin looked to the remaining kids. “I hope I can keep up with them.” she spoke up. “What about the rest of you?” “I say we go for it!” Dianne replied, smirking. “Besides, I think we could get lost just exploring on our own. Plus, I want to see if this palace has any good treats.”
Radelle smiled. “I would like to take a look at the kitchen too.” She added. “I’m not going to waste a chance to have a taste of the local food.” “Good for you.” Ping replied. “I was hoping to find a training room to practice for.” Lin added. “Well, I prefer the library, I was wondering what books they have.”
“Well, what are we waiting for?!” Edgard exclaimed. “Our parents are going to be talking for hours, and I rather explore than sit around and talk! So, let’s go!!” Out of the blue, he took Kathrin’s hand and dragged her along with him. The young lady was surprised and blushed furiously as she was pulled along.
Dianne and Radelle smirked in amusement; for the former, she knew fully well that her brother was getting a lot more than she bargained for because of his action. Soon they were following right after them.
As they were running up, the royal adults were happily watching them as they raced upstairs. Ariel giggled. “Looks like Melody’s is making a lot of new friends.” Adam chuckled. “I just hope Mainard will keep that wild streak of his in check, especially in front of the girls.” He explained. “He would often get into all sorts of mischief back home and give my servants a little nerve-racking.”
Aladdin grinned. “I would believe it.” He added. “He reminds me a lot of Azad; I think they are going to get along just fine.” “Oh, that’s nothing compared to Garrick.” Rapunzel added, giggling. “He and Luciana would always be running off to find something fun and exciting to do.”
“Well,” Cinderella gestured to the long table set up by the windows, giving everyone a clear view of the ocean. “since the children are busy, why don’t we sit and talk for a while?” She asked. “I’m sure we have a lot to catch up on.” The other royals agreed and each found a seat, making sure they were seated by their significant other.
Meanwhile, Grisby, Carlotta and the servants tended to the luggage. The former was watching Eric and Ariel chatting with the new arrivals. “Looks like Eric and Ariel are going to be tied up with their new friends for most of the day.” He spoke up, smiling proudly. Carlotta nodded. “Indeed, Mr Grisby.” She replied, chuckling. “And its good to see Melody around children her age, I know they are going to be close friends.”
