When Carmine still worked in Ustalav, one of his most frequent visitors was a strange young vampire who went by 'V'.
Despite being a vampire, a type of intelligent undead known to be immune to disease, V would come into Carmine's office week after week with some new bloodborne pathogen that he'd gotten from drinking blood from who-knows-where! As if that weren't bad enough, V had a bad habit of getting himself into trouble and falling in with bad crowds, often getting roped up into dangerous turf wars with werewolves, or finding himself on the front lines of mercenary conflicts.
Carmine formed a fondness for V over his many visits, and he tried his hardest to help the unlucky lad get on the straight and narrow. Here we have the good doctor once again treating the misfortunate bloodsucker once again, questioning how it is that V manages to get these diseases in the first place as he mixes up a curative and offers him a vial of ethical, responsibly sourced blood.
