'Smoking is bad for you'
next time someone blast you for smoking, medically speaking...
Smoking is said the be protective of Ulcerative Colitis, Pre-Eclampsia, Neural Tube Defects, and Parkinsons disease*.
SO when you're older and dying from lung cancer, at least you will be able to write your own name and wont be having flaming diarrhoea. And if you plan to be pregnant- its good for you AND your baby**!
* on basis of epidemiological studies. no aetiological proof.
** it is NOT good for your baby (or you for that matter, see below).
please note: smoking also causes all sorts of vascular disease, lung disease, cancers, increases your risk for just about every other disease on the planet, can induce disease in others via passive smoking, and in general, you die younger. please don't smoke. and if you do smoke, try to give up. i will....eventually.
