I recently tried drawing zombie hyenas bursting out of the ground. Because animals decay differently than human flesh does (the hide stays intact, it just dessicates) it was pretty difficult to get a really "zombie-like" look. In the end I had the eye sockets hollow, the ears rotted off, and the skin peeled back from the bones in places.
