To be fair, the writers wanted to reference alleged Russian (read: Kremlin) election interference. Conflating that for little reason with general Slavic memes like hardbass/adidas/squatting wouldn't reflect well for non Russian slavs, nor IMO add anything to the overall segment that it needed.
