It's been eleven years since we had a puppy in the house - and it took me about that long to forget just what a (wonderful) pain in the butt that they are. :)
This is Marrok (Rocky for short), a beauceron (french shepherd). He's eight weeks old and all paws and wagging tail at this point. He's the most amazing puppy I've ever met (and I've been around a LOT of puppies) - he's got an incredible personality and I know he's going to turn into an incredible dog. Right now my life is in-out-in-out-puppy underfoot but they grow up so fast!!
I'll move this over to scraps, just wanted to share our newest member of the family!

So cute 8=)
If work did not mean I globe hop constantly, I would get a new puppy, but im away from home so much, proper rearing and training of a puppy would be impossible. I have a dog now, but hes older and behaved and my roomate does not mind watching him while im gone, as hes a dog person too - but - my roomate is also blind, and retired, and theres no way for him to manage and supervise and help train something as wild as a puppy.

I know the place, that is part of why I have waited 11 years for this guy. I'm working from home and doing mostly dog shows where I can bring him with, active in dog sports - a huge contrast to my college then working-constantly out of the house lifestyle previously. My older dog is a well behaved, independent shiba inu who sounds a lot like your guy in the sense of being really easy with a busy/mobile lifestyle! Good on you for recognizing what works for you - sounds like you're an awesome dog owner!
And you as well 8=)
Ive been a dog person all my life, and I have seen far to many in my lifetime get old and pass on. it hurts (one of the pack was laid to rest May 5th of this year), but its how life works.
The solo guy left (shep mix) feels the loss too, he has lost a playmate, and has become more "clingy" and in need of attention, and I do my best to fill that when I can. So another dog is a good idea, but not a pup. As much as I would love that challenge, it would not be fair to any involved. Hope is the roomate decides to go the seeing eye dog route again, and that would take care of it.
