I can kind of explain it.
It seemed to me like Jinjur is getting worked up. She's getting so angry that her expertise is getting pushed aside.
Don't think it helps her that Kathy's been pushing just the right buttons.
Though I'm still kind of curious why Lathy didn't choose a fistfight. A fist is technically a lethal weapon and she has a fair bit of hand to hand combat experience in that area. Maybe even more than Jinjur

Better idea. An updated version of that 1990's toy Karate Fighters with plastic colored Kathy and Jinjur figures. And optional tank accessory for Kathy.
In order to prepare for drawing the duel, my husband and I got plastic short swords and trash can lids, and went out and sparred one afternoon. The experience was enlightening. First, I discovered that my husband was WAY better at this than I had anticipated. Second, I learned that one uses the shield far more than the sword. Third, that it's not easy to get in a hit. Fourth, that all that fancy-schmancy-dancy Hollywood sword fight stuff is pure bullhonk. This is "block and poke." It's also very tiring--just a few minutes will wear you out. And fifth, you really just focus on protecting yourself, and trying to slip your sword around your opponent's shield. (Of course, we also didn't want to actually hurt each other, so we had to be careful--not like Kathy and Jinjur.)
The poses here were sketched immediately after the practice duel.
