During their first year durgs eyes are still adjusting. Born completely blind their eyes start to recognize lighting and large objects. Eyes appear to be foggy as if they've got cataracts, the later in the year the less foggy they look. While their eyes havent yet developed well enough to guide them the young Durg will need to depend on their sense of smell to recognize family members and others within their group. Their hearing is also more in tune now letting them know when someone in the general area is moving. In the later months of their first year when their eyes really start coming into focus the durg will need to start wearing protective goggles. Some may start out with simple glasses and later move onto the heavyduty headgear.
Durg Gestation lasts 11 months, sometimes shorter if multiple offspring are expected. Most births only produce one to two babies, their a handfull to look after during the first few years. mothers will sometimes give up babies to other members of the group if they cant care for all of them.
Most of the offspring will take on the same role their parents held within the group. An extremely limited few will take the risks of living life above ground and leave whenever they please. These individuals are usually welcomed back with open arms if they choose to return, those that stay enjoy hearing tales of the surfaceworld and seeing souveniers of their travels.
