My friend
dikrano recently got a beautiful little female lilac-point siamese kitten. I wanted to give him something special to remind him in the future of when she was a kitten, and perhaps he could even frame it and display it properly if he wishes.
I enjoyed this, it was nice to do something realistic for a change.
I really hope he likes my depiction of her :)

Lily.. you keep surprising me, dear... had i not seen you doing such incredible artworks before, i would have believed this to be a photo ^^ Your skill keeps amazing me this is.. is.. *is bereft of appropriate words* All i can say is this: I wanna cuddle this cute kitten - and you too if you like ^^
Gahaha~ X3 *hugs*
To be honest I probably have more "talent" at realism than cartoon styles. I do miss doing it a lot. I would post up paintings I have done but they are in no way furry or even animal lol They're mostly still life or abstract paintings. The furry/anime stuff is nice though, I do like it. One of my favourite things to do is animal portraits, specially when it's someone's pet. Usually gets a really good response and I know I gave them something special.
Thanks :D!

*shrugs* i can just speak for myself here, but i ve seen quite a few artists submitting stuff, that doesn t have anything to do with furry stuff, so i don t see a reason, why you should not post it - in fact i d love to see it.
Save for the four pictures of my cat i have no furry stuff on my gallery either *shrugs* i guess the FA-Administration is quite tolerant about what is permitted to post, as long as it is still art - and i have no doubt, that those pictures you speak of, are very impressive pieces of art. so as far as i am concerned, go ahead and share it with us.

i admit i can t make head nor tail of abstract art, but i do appreciate realistic art quite a lot - regardless of it being a landscape, persons or whatever..
the only thing i don t like is looking at something and wonder "what the hell is that supposed to be" like Picasso´s pictures for example... - he might be famous, but to me his paintings look like a madman was let loose upon the canvas..

lol I dont like Picasso's abstract work... I beleive he was a skilled artist when he did other styles like realism though.
I like odd/abstract sort of art because it's usually colourful and nonsensical. That doesn't mean to say I like all of it. My own stuff isn't that weird. Usually it has some basic point that you can recognize, for example I did some on fruit a few times during college.
I really don't think many people would appreciate the "boring" sort of stuff I've had to paint for college though lol I can direct link you it from DA (so you avoid the site altogether) or I could upload it somewhere and link it.

Awesome, it looks so very real. @@;; Though wonder if the rule applies how art looks different on my desktop than laptop xD;; Or the fact that I know it isn't real will effect judgment when I get to said desktop. If I remember, will comment again ^^; Either way, to repeat myself this is awesome Lily! -^^-
Hehehe, yeah you're right about that, but I can also see certain colors and details better on my laptop than my desktop due to the angle tilt. Picture looks different on my desktop, but completely different? Hm..time to do a side by side comparison. I like how it looks better here on my desktop, due to colors looking darker and stand out better. Still looks pretty real though, opinion on that hasn't changed. ^^ And it still looks awesome -^^-
I used to use Corel Painter Classice and also 8 and 9. Paint has ALWAYS given me issues, it hogged my system resources/memory like there was no tomorrow and also it crashed like mad, sometimes corrupted big files. It might have been a joint effort between me PC and Painter, but I have heard similar stories from my friends who are also hardcore artists. I moved to Photoshop reluctantly years back, never really liked photoshop much...
Discovered SAI two years ago and I have to say, it is brilliant. It has all the same sort of functions as those version of Painter had, it is also tons lighter on the system as well and very inexpensive! :3
I guess for some artists it isn't their thing but I really can't get enough of SAI X3 It's far better than it should be for the price of it and I guess with whatever medium an artist uses, they can find ways to get the best out of it for them :3
Thanks alot for your comment :) x

I'm discovering SAI for real in these days. I always used to produce real media artworks and since I want to move completely to the digital ways, SAI is proving to be the best tool around to draw!
Painter never gave me too much problem and hardly locks and never corrupted files. But no matter how much I try I just can't make a decent sketch or linework on it. SAI's stabilizer and linework layers are like a dream come true XD and yes, it is really cheap for what it does (I hope it's producers never find it out =X )
But really is new for me that SAI can do this much! I'm looking forward to some lessons on how to do this =)

If you like oils/acrylics, you will have fun with SAI's paint tools and textures. I painted this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3442350/ in said X3 I had NO idea it even had that much to offer. I was very impressed. I painted it very fast and at that size so I am sure there's much better effects you can achieve if you bother X3
I also hope they dont start charging a fortune for it, I think it really enables people who are starting uot to have a paid-for program that's easily understood and such, and also the more advanced user can get a lot from it too. Nice balance.

I too hope they don't start to charge a fortune for SAI >_>
And I quite remember that apple! I think I need some training in these techniques in SAI. I already made some work with corel painter but not that good. Also... I just didn't understood how to add new textures to SAI. How do I do it? (if I can bother you even more XD)

Ah! I will get back to you on that :) It's easy :D
I will find a good "tutorial" for you later. It's a case of jsut finding the textures you want, dropping them in a certain folder and then using an executable to run some scripts to install them to the program so they appear in the list. You can add textures are background textures or as your brushes. :)
Will try to remember to get back to you on this, right now I am working X3 x

Gah... I can't find them x_x damn it!
They were on Deviantart.
I will try to explain D:
The files you use must be: Greyscale *.BMP format and I think the size must be 225x225 pixels (if not that, it is 256x256... I checked but my explorer is now crashing in the folder that these textures are living >.>;;; something I now have to sort out :<!)
You basically drop the textures into the folder in the SAI Parent directory named "papertex".
Once you have done this, you must run the executable file "start-sai.exe" to install the textures into your SAI.
That should be all you need to do. When you go to the texture drop down menus in SAI,your new textures will show up for you and you can use them.
It is the same for brush textures, only you will see that in the "brushtex" folder it has some fiels of different demensions. Just do the same for paper textures and it should work...
this tutuprial here helps me explain what I mean, only this one was made before the "start-sai.exe" was made to skip modifying that text file you see at the end of the tutorial:

I am really tired and have amigraine, sorry if anything didnt make sense.

Hehehehe I may post close ups still, jsut haven't gotten around to doing it yet X3
The small preview does make it look like a photograph. X3 I think it helps that it's digital so its crisp and clean looking I suppose!
Thank you very much :)
I may be taking commissions if I feel up to it, just capturing pets as their owner sees them is very tough and I am nervous I will not manage that.
