Wow, I was completely wrong earlier. Bob can't seem to control himself. I didn't think it would get to this point, but I realize more about the whole situation from this.
In Bob's mind, when he got the gem from Gharn, that was when he finally had the ability to complete his plans and travel back in time to kill the wolves. Since Gervic broke his staff and orb, Bob's been locked into this series of events, to which everything is Gervic's responsibility since he caused all of this to happen from that fight. Gervic didn't put up much of a fight here; it's obviously not because he's not capable of fighting back. Whatever threats or torture Bob put Gervic through still binds Gervic's actions. There's a lot of differences between the Gervic that fought Javecc and the Gervic that survived until Vlagg arrived at Ulrys. Throughout the series, Gervic's been able to fight back against his attackers less and less as time has moved forward. After months of being held prisoner, it's really taken a toll on his psyche. I'm interested more and more of what Vlagg and Gervic have to say to each other.

Gervic's position here is different. I think that it's less that Gervic's been really broken, and more that Bob's threats against Gervic for "disobedience" have taken hold. Gervic's shown that he's more than capable of fighting back against Bob. He didn't flinch so much as he positioned himself for being attacked. It's more like he's gotten used to this kind of treatment so much that he's accepted this kind of pattern coming from Bob. Gervic didn't even raise his arms in front of him. He turned away and prepared to get hit. Bob must have physically abused Gervic using the collar again, or some other confinement measure. Considering Bob's rage right now, I can only imagine how angry Bob was at Gervic shortly after Gervic freed Javecc. Bob's had been toying with Gervic until the battle with Gharn. It was only after that fight ended that Bob was ANGRY at Gervic. Gervic's probably seen Bob at much worse than this.
Bob's anger has stepped up a notch. He's been way more focused on Gervic as an outlet for his rage since the fight with Gharn. Bob clearly believes that his purpose was destroyed by Gervic. So far throughout the series, Bob was toying with Gervic, giving him names and forcing him to obey. After the Gharn fight, Bob moved straight towards his direct anger against ALL wolves. Bob's probably unleashed himself on Gervic since then. Considering how complacent Gervic seems to have been forced to become, I can only imagine what Bob has done to Gervic. There's probably a lot of reasons that Gervic didn't fight back here, the least of which is that he's afraid of Bob. Bob's bearing his teeth at Gervic now. He's MAD.
well, for sure he is afraid for his girl back home, Gervic I mean.
but Bob is not just acting like a dom but completely destroying Gervc's mind to make him pretty much a puppet for his own desire. makes me wonder what happened in Bob's past to go down THAT FAR...even if I STILL wouldn't mind making a Bob's carpet at this point...

Go that far? That question is relatively simple, and it pairs easily with the young kid from Game of Thrones who watched his family slaughtered by the Wild people, and later stabbed Jon Snow. He will eternally view them as an "enemy." There's no compromise. They're not even worthy of being considered "human" (or animal, in this case, hehe). The idea of peace between the two groups is repulsive to Bob. They nearly killed Bob. Bob doesn't see his enemy as anything capable of respect. He'll only kill them when offered dominance. He doesn't want peace; he wants them ALL dead.
Imagine having everything and everyone in your life ripped from in front of you, only to have the group responsible apologize and everyone in the world tell you that you should accept it and move on. Internally, the rage you would have could probably detonate every volcano on Earth. Bob's the only "sane" character here, ironically enough. War means war. That doesn't mean that he's got a point, or that what he's doing is right. However, he does understand that you don't stop until your enemy is too afraid to look at you.

Yes, that's the broad perspective way of looking at things. The intelligent and careful way --> modern way. Keep in mind, this is the medieval period. A very limited worldview is something that many of these people value more than anything else, including their property. When Bob punishes Gervic, Bob's not punishing Gervic personally (although it is very personal with Gervic now), he's beating the people responsible for killing his family. There was a great speech that gets a similar point like this across in that Netflix show "Love, Death, and Robots." Sophie's Edge. The part where they explain why she won't take a bribe. She's not going out there to fight and win for a paycheck. She wants to let her anger out (in a form of revenge) for the brutal capture, rape, and torture they put her through. In this case, Bob wants to unleash fury upon all who fit under the Wolven banner. Because to Bob, there's no difference between wolves at all; they're all guilty of the sin that they committed against Bob. Bob's rage won't be satisfied even if he killed the wolves that attacked his village. For all we know, he might have already. A single wolf alive is Bob's worst enemy. They are the ones who attacked first, attacked innocents, and killed without mercy. Even Bob wasn't spared.
One last factor to take into account is that Bob might have been brain damaged when he was hit in the head. That wasn't a small hit; he took a major attack to the side of the face. Mentally, he seems very capable, and that might not have been a limiting injury. However, he's just incapable of accepting that responsibility belongs to the wolves that attacked him vs. all the wolves in total. Hmm, I just realized that Gervic forced Bob to relive losing his family to the wolves all over again when Gervic destroyed his time travel plan. No wonder Bob is so mad at Gervic. Bob probably forced Gervic into complete submission because of how angry he was.

Very true. I enjoy these conversations very much. You're absolutely right, but the language here is very important, because this is comical and not real. I make sure to not get too attached to the circumstances, because factual analysis is important to me as a writer. I'm not able to criticize any points of view on this comic, just my own. I have no right to judge anyone else's viewpoint. You're allowed ALL viewpoints. That's the fun behind this kind of conveyance medium. Technically, you can make the leap that Gervic deserves the treatment that he received, if that is how you wish to see it, but really truly, does any human (or animal) deserve any of this kind of punishment for anything? I don't feel that way, and certainly I think upon that idea, we'd agree. Thank you for being so open to conversation. Being able to express ideas is important to me.
